Meet Aiden, a gorgeous little wire haired terrier who came to us from the local pound.
We don’t know anything about her past though we worked out on day one that she is completely deaf.
This sweet little lady can be shy around new people though she is slowly working out that people aren’t going to hurt her. Once she is comfortable with you, she will happily have a scratch or better yet, curl up and have a nap on your lap.
Given Aiden is a terrier and deaf, she cannot be let off lead unless in a secure area. She puts her nose down, bum up and off she goes!
Aiden has been great in the car and has been lovely to walk on lead. She has not shown much interest in her foster carers cats, though they are confident and don’t run from dogs.
Aiden is currently in care with a couple of adult dogs and several puppies. She can be rude when playing with the adult dogs, she likes to jump up and lick their face, though she has been great with the senior dog and is fantastic with the puppies.
Aiden isn’t a noisy pooch, she hasn’t really barked at all since being in care, though she is a bit of an opportunist when it comes to letting herself out of the yard. If there is a gap in the fence that she can fit through, she will probably find it and she will also take advantage of a gate that isn’t closed quick enough. We have been working on not rushing out the gate, she is learning quickly and has not made any attempts to rush out the gate over the past week. Though this is something her new family will need to be aware of and continue to train and manage in the future.
Aiden has slept both outside and inside in a crate since being in care, on all occasions with another dog. She definitely prefers to be inside with her people and is happy sleeping in a crate (in front of the fire, of course) though would probably prefer to be on the couch or better yet, on the bed.
Aiden doesn’t appear to of had any training since coming into our care. With her deafness she is definitely a little more tricky to train, though with time, good treats and some patiences she can certainly learn anything her new family wants to teach her.
Aiden would prefer to have a doggy friend for company and to help with her confidence, though this is not essential.

Medical notes
Aiden has luxating patella’s. At this point surgery is not required, though may be in the future.
