About Baklava & Eclair
Meet Baklava & Éclair – A sweet little pair ready for their forever home.
Baclava Aka Bucky is a 3 year old Terrier mix weighing in at 4 kilos and Eclair Aka Clair is a 2 year old Terrier mix weighing in at 6 kilos
These two little munchkins came from a multiple dog property with minimal exposure to people so we would love to keep them together as they are more confident as a pair
Baklava and Éclair are two sweet little souls who have found comfort, confidence, and companionship in each other during their time in foster care. They’re a perfect pair—playful, affectionate, and growing braver by the day. Because they’ve formed such a strong bond, these two are looking for a forever home together. They bring out the best in each other, and separating them would be a step backward in their journeys. If you’re looking to welcome double the love and twice the tail wags into your home, Baklava and Éclair are ready to meet you.
Baklava
Humans interaction Baklava is a loving, lively little guy who thrives on affection and companionship. He adores cuddles and attention, and once he trusts you, he’ll become your biggest fan, happily curling up in your lap or by your side on the couch. At first, Baklava can be a bit wary of new people and may bark at unfamiliar faces on walks or when visitors arrive. But his caution fades quickly, and with a bit of patience, he warms up and reveals his affectionate nature.
Training and obedience
He hasn’t had any formal training, so his forever home will need to be committed to helping him build confidence through gentle, positive reinforcement. He’s already showing responsiveness to gentle cues like “uh-huh!” when he’s about to chew something he shouldn’t. Inside the house, Baklava is mostly relaxed, although he’s still getting the hang of toilet training and may mark indoors if not given regular access to the outside. A little understanding and consistency will help him continue making progress.
Baklava is fantastic with other small dogs—he loves to play and is much happier with a doggy companion around. He’s still a bit unsure of larger dogs like many little dogs and may bark at them. He hasn’t been tested with cats or small animals.
Independence
He at times struggles with being left alone outside so he really would prefer someone who’s home more often than not, or another dog to keep him company—ideally, his best friend Éclair. He is happy with her company, he is ok being left alone and has coped but we would be looking for a home where he’s not left for long hours each day
At night, Baklava sleeps happily in his crate, as long as he has a furry friend nearby, and he’ll never say no to sleeping on the bed if invited.
When it comes to adventures, Baklava is a cheerful little traveller and enjoys car rides, especially if he can be near his people. He’s a bundle of energy on walks and loves to sniff out the world around him. Treats are another favourite—he eats his kibble happily and will always say yes to a bit of poached chicken. Baklava has been vet checked, desexed and microchipped and is ready to find a home where he can continue growing into the happy, confident dog he’s meant to be.
Éclair
Éclair is a sweet, gentle little lady who has come a long way from the shy, frightened little girl when she arrived. She did not cope well being an only dog so definitely needs a buddy around to feel more confident. When she first arrived in foster care, she was extremely timid—she wouldn’t accept pats, didn’t like to be picked up, and spent weeks keeping her distance. But everything changed when she moved in with Baklava ( previously known to her) With his friendship and playful encouragement, Éclair began to come out of her shell. Now, she loves pats, seeks out cuddles with her trusted humans, and enjoys curling up on the couch at the end of the day.
She still has a shy streak and may take time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she forms strong, loyal bonds. Like Baklava, Éclair hasn’t had much formal training, so her forever family will need to be prepared to work gently on her obedience and socialisation. She’s a sensitive little dog, but also very well-behaved—she rarely gets into trouble and responds well to calm correction.
Éclair enjoys the company of other small dogs and loves a good play session. She’s still unsure of larger dogs and hasn’t been tested with cats. Like Baklava, she draws confidence from having a doggy friend nearby, and the two of them are happiest when they’re together. She sleeps soundly in her crate but would be equally content in a cosy bed near her humans.
Walks are one of Éclair’s favourite parts of the day—she enjoys exploring the neighbourhood and taking in all the sights and smells. She travels well in the car (especially in her crate) and eats happily, with kibble for meals and the occasional treat of poached chicken. When she first arrived in foster care, Éclair loved a dig in the garden, we feel this was probably stress in a new environment but as she is now getting more stimulation by going out for walks and exploring the outside world this has reduced dramatically. Éclair has been desexed and recently had a cyst removed from her left side, but is otherwise in good health.
Éclair needs a patient, kind home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. With Baklava by her side and a loving family to support her, she’s ready to keep blossoming into the affectionate, playful dog she was always meant to be
Ideal home
A quiet kind home that will give these two pups the time they need to settle and develop a relationship with their new family
We are seeing a very VERY VERY secure yard as Baklava being a tiny boy can escape if there are any holes and yes he will find them lol
A small yard enough for zoomies would be adequate but no apartment living ( balcony) will be considered
A home with older quiet children may be suitable as they would be too unsettled in a busy noisy household
A home where they will be walked daily and given the best life moving forward
