About Athena
Athena is a beautiful five year old German Shepherd, who through no fault of her own, is looking for a new beginning—a family to call her own, a place where she could offer all the love and loyalty she carried in her big shepherd heart.
She was the kind of dog that made people stop and smile. With her sleek black-and-tan coat, intelligent amber eyes, and gentle nature, she turned heads wherever she went. At five years old, Athena had already learned the quiet art of being a loyal companion. She was calm, house-trained, and loved nothing more than being close to her humans—especially if it involved a good bath, a car ride, or a long walk.
Athena goes on daily walks but may need more training to walk on a lead without pulling if she sees another dog.
Athena loves going in the car, and also loves getting bathed.
Athena is not suitable to go to a home with cats or another dog.
Athena is ready to go to her new home. Will you be the one to give her the second chance she deserves?
Athena's ideal home is one where she can enjoy the company of a patient and understanding owner, preferably someone experienced with the breed and training.
If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive with your family to meet Athena. If for any reason she doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing her back to Sydney or helping us to rehome from your home.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give me a new home, then please click on the link "Enquire about Athena" and we will send you information about adopting a German Shepherd or go to our website and complete the application form.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
