About Dori
Meet Dori – 2-Year-Old German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP)
Location: Kyabram
Adoption through: Shepparton Animal Rescue and Rehoming
Dori is a stunning young GSP with a heart full of potential! At 2 years old, she’s full of energy, smarts, and charm – and she’s looking for a committed and active home to help her thrive.
About Dori:
Dori took a little time to settle in, but now that she’s more relaxed, her sweet and loyal nature is shining through. She does best in an environment without balls or fetch toys – she becomes hyper-focused, paces, whines, and finds it hard to calm down. Removing these triggers has made a world of difference for her.
Medical Info:
As a pup, Dori broke her back leg. It healed well and doesn’t impact her day-to-day life, but she may occasionally limp if she overdoes it. Rest usually settles it quickly. Her adopter will need to be mindful not to over-exercise her and to give her time to rest if needed.
Good to Know:
Cat-friendly: She’s shown no interest in the resident cat.
Kid-friendly: She’s great with older children but can be a bit jumpy when excited, so she's not suitable for homes with toddlers.
Crate-trained: Sleeps overnight in an open crate with no issues.
Car rides: Calm and well-behaved in the car.
Food: Will sit for treats, with no signs of food aggression.
Social & Exercise Needs:
Dori is selective with other dogs – she prefers to be the dominant one and isn’t overly interested in playing with them. She’d do best as the only dog or with a submissive male dog.
She loves to dig, so a secure yard is a must.
Walking is a work in progress, but she’s doing well when guided in a heel position.
She would thrive with someone who can provide regular, balanced exercise and lots of mental stimulation.
Ideal Home:
Dori needs someone home often who’s experienced with high-energy breeds. Her new family should be dedicated to ongoing training, structured activity (like running, where appropriate), and offering plenty of interactive toys and enrichment.
If you're ready to invest in a smart, loving, and athletic companion, Dori might just be your perfect match.
