About Skye Blue
Skye Blue is a gentle and affectionate English Staffy with a soft demeanor and a heart brimming with love. With her steel blue color, gentle and loving nature and amazing manners our little land seal is going to make a wonderful family addition to a very lucky family. At just 20 kilos of loveable wombat stockiness Skye Blue is the perfect size little med girl
She has a deep affection for her human companions, whether they are mature children or seniors, and she finds her greatest joy in being close to them, soaking up all the affection she can get. When she’s eager for some cuddles, she might give a little jump – her unique way of saying, “Love me! Love me!”
Skye is quite content whether she is indoors or enjoying some solitary time outside. She is not destructive and has proven to be a model house guest in her foster home, where she happily sleeps inside and remains calm while the family is out. Not a single paw out of place!
Interaction with People: Skye absolutely adores all people. She has been around young children and is currently living with older children and teenagers, relishing every opportunity for pats and cuddles. Although she is a small girl, she is a bundle of muscle, so we feel that children aged five and up would be suitable, provided they are calm around her as she prefers a quieter home environment. She is very gentle when taking treats from hands.
Personality & Temperament: Due to her past as a breeding dog, Skye Blue hasn’t had many life experiences, so new situations can initially be quite daunting for her. She requires time and gentle encouragement to feel safe. Loud environments or sudden noises can cause her to retreat to a quiet space outside. She is particularly nervous around doors and appreciates having space and reassurance when moving between rooms — she needs to know you won’t shut the door on her (Poor darling! What has she been through!). She is seeking a fairly quiet home where she can feel secure. Skye is at her happiest when she is included in the day-to-day activities of family life and offers sweet moral support while you do chores, watch TV, or cook dinner (bonus points if a cheesy treat happens to fall her way!).
: Skye is well-behaved. She loves her daily walks and doesn’t pull very much, preferring a relaxed pace with plenty of sniff-stops along the way.
Other Animals: Skye prefers to be your one and only companion. She tends to avoid dogs when out and about, preferring to move away from them. She is happy to have a sniff of their behinds but doesn’t like to engage face-to-face or in close proximity, as it makes her feel uncomfortable, and she may snap to get them to move away from her space. She is fairly content to walk alongside another dog with about a two-meter distance but doesn’t enjoy close-up interactions. We haven’t observed any barking or lunging at other dogs from a distance, as she would rather give them a wide berth instead. We suggest she might be okay with very slow introductions to well-mannered, calm dogs, but she really would prefer not to interact with other dogs. A new owner would need to ensure she is given space around dogs, as she won’t like unknown dogs approaching her. She finds them a little scary. For this reason we are seeking an ONLY dog home and not to be taken to dog park or off lead areas please
Lifestyle & Needs: Independence: Skye is calm, quiet, and perfectly fine to stay home during work hours. She doesn’t bark much and enjoys both the comforts of being inside and spending time outside in the sun. Sleeping: She sleeps indoors on her bed in a quiet space and can be locked inside overnight without any accidents. She should be allowed to stay indoors while her family are not home please as she is the perfect housemate
Car Travel: She loves car rides once she’s comfortable. She may hesitate with new cars, but cheese bribes work wonders!
Exercise: Skye enjoys short, daily walks and is currently walked on a slip lead. She settles quickly and enjoys a calm, predictable pace. Fetch is her favorite game — nothing is more fun than fetch! Skye even brings the ball back, ready to play again Ideal Home: Skye Blue would thrive in a calm, loving home with patient humans who understand nervous dogs and are willing to guide her gently through life’s experiences. She needs to be the only pet and would do best with dog-savvy children. Dog parks aren’t her thing, but a daily walk, a cozy bed, and lots of cuddles? That’s her idea of heaven. What Skye wants most is to be included as a cherished member of the family — because despite everything she’s been through, she has so much love to give. She is a real wiggly but smoochy poochy, eager to share her affection with those who welcome her into their hearts and home. We have not tested her with cats.
