Meet Harvey,
Looking for a four-legged sidekick who’s always up for fun? Say hello to Harvey! This handsome, tail-wagging goof ball is bursting with personality and charm. Harvey is the kind of dog who lights up a room just by walking into it (usually with a bounce in his step!).
Harvey is social, affectionate, and absolutely loves being part of the action. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a walk through the park, or just hanging out with his favourite humans, he’s all in — and then some! He thrives in an active household and would be the perfect match for people who enjoy staying busy and having fun with their dog by their side.
While Harvey is friendly and adaptable enough to settle into most homes, he would really flourish in a calm, quiet environment with experienced owners who can guide his enthusiastic energy in the right direction. He's smart, responsive, and always eager to be involved.
With his sweet nature, playful spirit, and bright-eyed curiosity, Harvey is ready to bring laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags into your life. Come meet him — he’s already practising his best happy dance for you!
Ideal Home: Harvey is suitable to live in a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Harvey is open to meet kids from 10 years & up - he's a wonderfully loving dog whose loves to have fun. So he may accidently know smaller kids over during play time.
Harvey is fine to spend time in the yard on his own without any problems. On occasion he'd love to be inside with his new family, too. He is fine to live with people who work part-time or full-time.
Furry Friends: Harvey is open to meet other dogs. Initially he lacked some manners but since being with us he has become much more social and approachable. He was never 'dog reactive' he just didn't have manners. Now? He loves dogs! All dogs! He's a bit of flirt if we are to be completely honest. He loves his social walks and group play sessions and being around other dogs actively makes him much more relaxed and happy.
As we cannot test in the environment, we are not sure how Harvey would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners. He may be a little too excited for some smaller animals.
Training & Development: Harvey would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes may also be a good option for Harvey , so that he can learn how to interact with other dogs appropriately & gain some manners. Harvey is usually quiet settled but when he gets excited he is known to jump around - usually during play time.
With additional training, Harvey could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
Harvey is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit & place. He is food motivated too and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Harvey has high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep him happy. We are yet to find a toy that Harvey loves but what we do know is that he adores personal play with his handlers.
Harvey walks well on a lead with only some pulling. He is fine to be walked on either a harness or martingale & treats to reward good walking does wonders, too.
Staff Comments: Harvey is a smart boy whose just a big puppy at heart. He has some energy to burn off but has a well meaning attitude and a loving smile. He sees fun in everything he does.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
