Sweet Mayzie May came to us a shy, very timid, and sometimes a scared girl. We had a few weeks anxious wait to make sure she wasn't pregnant. Thankfully she wasn't. Since then she has been slowly learning to trust again, learning to play and have toys and get fed well. She has learnt she isn't in trouble when she is called and that good girls like her get the pats and love. She is still a little scared of sudden movements, raised hands or the broom but she is slowly learning that she doesn't need to be frightened any more.
Mayzie May is really just a giant puppy, learning to play with others, but in her excitement she can get a bit full on with her enthusiasm. Her big foster sister is trying her best to teach her, so is her foster brother the little Aussie terrier. So far, she is doing well with other dogs and loves her foster brother and sister. This big puppy in a big dog body is getting to be a dog and she is loving it, though sometimes her play needs supervising as she gets over excited and forgets her size. She takes direction well though when told settle down and to play calm and gentle. Check out her cute videos ☺️.
She is a talker and loves to vocalise when she is happy, giving little growls, barks and grumbles and she loves it when you talk back to her. It is a skill!! She even grins when she is super excited. That freaked us out the first time we saw that!! Its a lovely little quirk. If you know Bull Arabs you know how adorably goofy and loving they are. Her sweetest trait is laying her head on your chest when she wants some love. 💜
She is happy to chill outside with a chew treat. Mayzie May sleeps through the night, either on her bed, the couch , or on your bed if allowed. She manages to make herself quite small on the bed and rarely hogs it.
She travels well in the car, walking and lead work are in progress but so far so good! And she has learnt to sit 🙂
She is big and black and beautiful. And being a big black dog has its pluses. +++ 👍 💜 🐶
Black dog advantages:
You cant see their hair on your clothes, unless you wear white!
They don't look dirty even when they are !
Big dog advantages:
You don't have to bend down to pat them.
They don't get under your feet.
Thay can keep you warm when camping or on cold nights.
And the bigger the dog the bigger the love they have to give, and that's exactly what Mayzie May is waiting for, her own person or family to give all her love.
She needs someone who will be patient and continue her training to help her trust again and grow into the awesomely beautiful dog she is meant to be.
