About Ellie
Meet Ellie: A Mysterious Girl with a Heart of Gold (and a killer fly-catching skill)
Remember our Easter rescue mission?
Well, hidden away in a rural pound, we stumbled upon this total sweetheart, Ellie!
This gorgeous girl, estimated to be around 3 years old, has been living the pampered life in foster care in Ipswich, Brisbane, ever since.
Now, she's ready to find her forever family – could that be you?
The Rangers initially guessed Mareema Sheepdog, what with that stunning white coat!
But there's definitely a hint of a Golden Retriever about her too.
Imagine the possibilities: fluffy guard dog vibes versus playful retriever silliness.
Brains and loyalty guaranteed... but potentially very different approaches to walkies! 🤣
Honestly, we're playing the guessing game on this one.
All we know is you'd need to be ready for anything!
What we definitely know is Ellie's personality.
When she first arrived, bless her heart, everything was new and a bit scary: houses, toys, even playing!
But look at her now!
She's put on some much needed weight, she's eating like a champion, she's starting to initiate playtime, and she even knows her name.
She sits (eventually) for her dinner... after maybe 10 tries. Hey, it's progress!
She had a little disagreement with Tillycat this morning (who decided to be extra-territorial) and Ellie was off like a shot, whimpering - she's definitely learning the ropes!
This girl loves a cuddle and is incredibly gentle
She'll patiently wait her turn for attention, letting Maverick (our carers resident dog) have his routine first.
She's also incredibly clever – she's still a bit wary of men but foster Dad, Sebastian, is winning her over with gentle feeding and a soothing voice.
She absolutely adores all the ladies in the house!
Speaking of Maverick, they are playing beautifully and Maverick even shares his Llama which is not a thing. He lets her play with it and he’s slowly getting her out of her shell.
We think Ellie would flourish in a home with another confident, gentle dog to show her the ropes and help her fully blossom but she would also be just as happy as an only dog, soaking up all the attention!
A few extra things to know about Ellie:
She knows basic commands like "sit" and "come" (sort of).
Ellie is an elite fly catcher. Stealth - focus. Failure is not an option.
She's very affectionate and craves touch (although she can freeze until she feels safe).
She follows her person and likes to stay close.
She loves being greeted and puts her paw up for cuddles.
She doesn't bark much.
She prefers home cooked meals and loves carrot sticks as a treat.
She is toilet trained and does let you know she needs to go.
Ellie has not had an easy life previously and does have a lot of fears around loud noises unknown dogs ( big or small) and the dark.
She's a girl that is going to need a lot of love and patience but she's going to be one of the most beautiful family members you could imagine.
If you are interested in maybe giving Ellie her happily ever after, please send us a message (comments often get missed) telling us all about yourselves and the loving life you could offer her.
Ellie is booked in for her desexing next week!
Her adoption fee is $595, which includes her desexing, vaccination, microchip, heartworm test, and all flea, tick, and worm treatments to date.
And did we mention her smile?
It's absolutely breathtaking! 😍
