About Rex
Introducing Rex!
Rex is a Foxie x Long Haired Chihuahua born 18th July 2024.
Rex was surrendered to the facility as his mum is battling very serious health issues and felt it was best for him to find another loving home. This was a very hard decision for her to make & he's been a very well loved boy.
Since being at the facility Rex has been absolutely delightful! He's incredibly friendly & affectionate with staff, volunteers & members of the public walking through the facility. He's met multiple children & he's very friendly with them. He does like to stand on his back legs to try to kiss them though, so he may accidentally knock small children over. He's incredibly playful and LOVES tennis balls.
Rex tested very well with other dogs and he's incredibly playful with them. We believe Rex would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the only spoilt "child" at home. If you have another dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Rex tested quite well with cats. He was happy to sniff them and move on. We feel that he could be suitable to live with cats, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Rex was originally scared of our rooster, however after a second meet with him he got a little too focused on him and was trying to chase after him. For this reason we're recommending a home with no pocket pets, or a home with securely caged pocket pets.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Rex will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Rex has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Rex's adoption fee is $800 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration. Rex is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
