About Peanut
Hi there! My name’s Peanut, I’m a sweet, sensitive young Chihuahua cross looking for a very special forever home.
I might be small in size, but my heart is big—though it takes me a little while to share it. I’m a nervous girl, especially when meeting new people, so I’m hoping to find a calm, patient, and dog-savvy family who understands I need to take things at my own pace. I do best in a quiet environment, so no busy apartment living for me, please—I much prefer a peaceful home in a quiet neighborhood where I can feel safe. Because I’m so shy, I’d do best in a home without young children. Kids over 12 who are calm, confident, and respectful of my space could be a good fit, especially if they understand that I don’t like to be overhandled and will come to them when I’m ready. I’ll also need to meet everyone in the family before I move in—building trust is important to me, and I like to know who I’ll be living with. I will likely need to meet my new owners a few times before I am able to go home with you.
I don’t enjoy the company of other dogs and really prefer to have my humans all to myself, so I’ll need to be the only pet in the home. I’m still learning about the world and working on building my confidence, so an experienced owner who’s familiar with Chihuahuas—or small nervous breeds like me—would be amazing. Someone who’s home more often, especially during the first month, will help me settle in and feel secure. I find it hard being left alone and will need support and structure to help me feel comfortable while you’re out.
Ongoing training is really important for me, not only to help me grow into a more confident little lady, but also to help me manage my worries, especially around strangers and visitors. Walks can be a bit overwhelming if things are too busy, so having someone who can advocate for me, read my signals, and give me time to adjust will make a world of difference.
If you’ve got the time, patience, and understanding to help a nervous little dog like me blossom, I promise I’ll be your most loyal companion. I just need someone who’s willing to meet me where I’m at—and walk with me, step by step, as I learn to feel safe and loved. Are you my person?
Lots of love, Peanut xo
