About Ginny
Meet Ginny, delightful. affectionate and super loving little Heeler x weighing in at 18 kilograms. So the perfect little med size girl She is a beautiful and happy girl who is full of life and enthusiasm. If you are on the lookout for a sweet temperament, friendly family dog that can seamlessly fit into your household, then Ginny might just be the perfect match for you!
During her time in foster care, Ginny has been living with a family that includes two adults, two teenagers, and her four-legged foster sibling. She has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this family environment, relishing the love and attention she receives. Ginny is incredibly loving and affectionate, always eager to be involved in family activities. As a young dog, she is still in the process of learning her boundaries and manners, which means she can sometimes get a bit too excited and jumpy. However, she is a quick learner and is always eager to please. Ginny absolutely adores hugs and belly rubs and loves spending time indoors with her human companions. She would be an excellent addition to an active family that is willing to continue her training and engage in various activities with her. Ginny would make a fantastic jogging partner for those who enjoy outdoor exercise!
Ginny has a few favorite activities that bring her immense joy. She loves playing chase and engaging in roughhousing with her four-legged foster sister. Walking is another activity she thoroughly enjoys, especially when it involves treats and being in the company of her human family members. Speaking of treats, Ginny has a particular fondness for them, and they play a significant role in her training and motivation.
As a young dog, Ginny will require a family that is committed to her ongoing training. She has already learned some basic commands, such as "sit" and "no." Ginny is incredibly friendly and eager to greet other dogs during her walks, even if they are not as enthusiastic about meeting her. This means she can sometimes pull on the leash and requires commands like "no" and "leave" to keep her in check. Her friendly nature extends to everyone she meets, which is a wonderful trait but also means she needs guidance to manage her excitement. Ginny is still getting used to her new name, so her recall isn't perfect yet, and this will require continuous reinforcement.
Ginny has visited the dog park on several occasions and has shown great social skills with dogs of all sizes. She loves running with the pack and is gentle when interacting with smaller dogs. While she is still getting accustomed to car rides she is starting to thoroughly enjoy her trips.
Ginny is a fan of baths and has enjoyed several during her time in foster care. Her daily diet consists of two meals: dry food in the morning and a mixture of dry food and chicken or prime roll for dinner. Her love for treats makes her highly motivated during training sessions. Ginny thrives on daily walks and requires at least one substantial walk each day. Although she can pull a bit and zigzag on the lead, she has shown significant improvement in this area. At night, Ginny has been sleeping on her foster teen's bed, sometimes even snuggling underneath, and she sleeps soundly when she is close to her human family members. She can go through the night without needing a toilet but requires a trip outside first thing in the morning, even if she seems reluctant.
Ginny has adapted well to being both an inside and outside dog. She has access to the indoors while her human family members are at school and work. On sunny days, she is content to spend time outside. Ginny enjoys having toys to play with outdoors and requires stimulation, such as Kong toys filled with treats. She loves lounging on the couch with her humans. In the mornings and evenings, it can be a bit challenging to coax Ginny outside for toileting, as she fears being left outside. To help her settle into her forever home, you may need to use a lead to guide her outside initially. Ginny is improving in her toileting habits and will need regular trips outside as she becomes familiar with her new surroundings to prevent accidents indoors. She has not damaged anything of value since being in foster care.
We are seeking a loving home for Ginny with a family experienced in caring for an active working breed. This family should be willing to invest time and effort into her ongoing training and development. Ginny would be best suited to a household with older children, as she can sometimes get a bit jumpy. Having another male dog of similar size and energy would be ideal, as Ginny loves engaging in play with her canine companions. A home with a spacious yard is essential, as small yards or apartments would not be suitable for a dog of her breed and energy level.
