About Memphis
Introducing Memphis, an affectionate and laid back male Rottie x Amstaff puppy born on 1 January 2025.
Memphis’s mum is a Rottweiler and his dad is an American Staffordshire Terrier, a hybrid mix known as the Staffweiler.
Memphis is an affectionate, people-focussed pup who enjoys the company of humans and is already learning to walk nicely on a leash. He gets on well with the other dogs at his rural foster home and, being a placid chap, you’ll often find him just snoozing in the sun. He loves to swim in the dam and go on walks around the property.
The Rottweiler we know today descends from mastiffs that lived in the Roman Empire more than 2,000 years ago. An ancient breed, they have a long history of being loyal and protective companions, qualities Dakota is sure to inherit.
Amstaffs are known for their loving temperament. They are affectionate, loyal and protective of family members. They are also intelligent and eager to please, which makes them highly trainable. They are not lounge lizards and require a moderate amount of exercise and mental stimulation.
Memphis will inherit these qualities to varying degrees, but one thing’s for sure, he will be a big dog - and with big dogs come big responsibilites, including training, exercise, and care. In particular, the Staffweiler should be obedience-trained and well socialised from a very young age. Although no guarantee of non-reactivity, Memphis has had initial exposure to cattle, donkeys and cats.
With consistent training and early socialization, he promises to be a loyal and loving family dog. He will flourish in a home with large dog experience, good fencing to keep him safe and where he is regarded as an integral member of the family. It is crucial for potential applicants to know he will not do well if left alone in the backyard for lengthy periods. He is too big to be a suitable companion for small children and toy dogs.
If you are a strong and confident dog lover and you're looking to welcome an intelligent, affectionate, and loyal dog into your life, Memphis could be the boy for you.
He is offered for adoption under the terms of our Deferred Desexing Program, which means he can go to his new home undesexed on the condition that his new family have him desexed at our cost when age appropriate. Terms and conditions apply.
