About Edith
Hi, I’m Edith.
I’m a gentle little pup with a big heart and a whole lot of love waiting for the right family to share it with. I’ve had a rough start in life, but you wouldn’t know it to meet me. I can be a little cautious at first, so I’ll need time to settle in.
Once I feel safe, I’ll happily jump up next to you for a pat, a friendly lick on your ear, or a snuggle on your lap. I really love other dogs who will play chase and parkour with me—I’m super fast, and my foster mum says I’m the speediest dog she’s ever seen! I used to live with six kittens, and they were the best fun ever. I love relaxing inside, wandering the yard with my two older dog mates and my human, and cuddling up on the couch in the evenings to watch TV. I’m learning to toilet outside, but puppy pads are still there for those just-in-case moments.
At night, I’m too little to sleep outside, so I snuggle under the blankets with my foster mum. I love car trips, visiting family and friends, or a trip to the park. Best fun is when the window is down and I can stick my nose into the breeze. And don’t get me started on the heavenly smells of McDonald’s drive-through! Of course, I’m always locked in securely in my harness.
I’m okay with being left alone now and then, but I really do prefer company—gentle kids, cats, dogs, and loving humans. I’m a good girl when I’m called, especially for a tasty treat, and if I get scared, I always run inside to my safe space. I walk beautifully on a lead and never pull. I’ve got long legs, the grace of a gazelle, and the stamina of a greyhound, so it’ll take a lot to tire me out. I also need a very secure yard, because I can jump and love being up high. If there’s a chair or table outside, you’ll find me up there, taking in the view. I rarely bark and don’t mind visitors, so I don’t think I’ll ever grow up to be a guard dog.
I’ll need a family who understands that I’m still finding my confidence and will need time and patience to adjust—just like my foster sisters, moving me to a new home won’t be an overnight transition. I need to be in a home where someone is home most of the time, as I don’t cope well being left alone for long periods. I also can’t go to a home with young kids, as I need a calm and quiet space to feel safe. It’s really important that I’m an indoor dog more often than not—I’m too small and sensitive for life outdoors. With the right person—someone patient, gentle, and willing to let me open up at my own pace—I know I’ll become the most loyal, loving little companion you could ever hope for. If you think you might be that person, I’m ready whenever you are.
