Sampson is a gentle giant with a heart full of love and a soft spot for belly rubs.
He can be a little shy at first and is still building his confidence. Once he warms up to you, he’s a total sweetheart who just wants to be close.
He’s currently learning to enjoy his walks and would do best in quiet areas where he can relax and take things at his own pace.
Sampson can also be quite playful and, for his size, he's impressively gentle—though he sometimes forgets just how big he is when he’s trying to cuddle up on the couch!
He would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can continue to build confidence and enjoy the companionship of a loving family. He would best suit a home where the humans are home most of the time, as he can get a bit anxious when left alone. Therefore a home with secure fencing is also a must for him.
While Sampson does get along with other dogs, we now think this big boy should go to a home where he is an only dog. He has been ok with some submissive female dogs or small submissive male dogs, but at this stage we think he would just be happier on his own.
With socialisation and training, this could improve over time, but we want him to be happy.
With time, trust, and gentle guidance, Sampson will make a deeply loyal and affectionate friend.
Sampson is $350 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), and given flea/tick/worm prevention.
