About Twyla
Meet Twyla
Twyla is a beautiful and affectionate german shepherd x kelpie puppy who came into DCH care after being dumped with her 5 siblings in the bush and surrendered to a shelter. She was very scared at the shelter, constantly hiding under the bed. Under DCH where she is being cared for by a foster care family as the only dog in the household, she has learned to relax and know she is safe (she even smiles - see photo).
Twyla was initially skittish with new people (never aggressive) and dogs but through daily socialisation training, Twyla is now more relaxed when meeting new people and dogs. She is friendly and affectionate, always looking for her affection to be reciprocated. Twyla is calm with cats and kittens, never showing any sign of aggression. In fact, she is more likely to be bullied by cats and kittens.
Twyla is playful and loves dry puppy kibble. She is learning to go to the toilet outside, especially when she is taken outside for walks. She loves being inside with her hoomans but can stay outside. She does not bark (unless she hears another dog barking - then she will respond with a short series of barks).
Twyla walks well, not pulling on her lead. She will walk instep with you but will on occasion hide behind you if a big dog approaches. She loves her walks and rides in the car.
Twyla will suit a single, couple or family who will be patient with her as she learns to trust more and more. But once she trusts you, she will be your biggest fan for life. If you are looking for a sweet and affectionate puppy who only wants to be with her hooman family, then you need to meet Twyla.
