About Max
Meet Max, a charming 1-year-old Dachshund with a sweet and loving disposition. Max is a tender-hearted little guy who may start off timid in new situations, but once he gets comfortable, his affectionate nature will win you over. His list of fans includes both other dogs and cats, making him a versatile companion who can easily fit into a home with existing pets.
With his slender build and soulful eyes, Max is the essence of canine cuteness. As with most young dogs, he has some learning to do, so training will help him build confidence and develop into a well-mannered companion. Max is a stimulus barker, so training will also help him feel more secure in various environments as he learns to communicate and interact positively.
Max is most comfortable in a calm and understanding household that can provide him the support he needs to grow and feel safe. In a loving environment, Max will not only thrive but will enrich your life with his unique blend of sweetness and playful energy. If you're looking to make a devoted, gentle friend a part of your family, Max is eager to meet you and shower you with love!
Medical notes
From the vet.
Max was examined due to a shifting hind limb lameness. Radiographs were taken of his lower spine, pelvis and stifles.
Radiographically, no significant abnormalities were noted, except for bilateral pes varus (which is his feet turning out a little).
It is suspected the lameness may be due to a commination of grade 1 patella luxation bilaterally and the afore mentioned structural abnormalities.
A trial of NSAID's (anti inflammatory) was recommended and close monitoring form worsening lameness. Surgical correction is an option if required.
Max was given a week of antil inflammatory and improved.
This would still need to be monitored.
Adoption details
Our adoption process is easy. You will receive a application for the animals you are interested in. Please full that in and send it back to us.
Even though you may be first to message, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a "first in, first served basis". We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
With all our animals, we go on what our vet has told us and what we believe the breed and age to be. We never guarantee the breed or age but take the best educated guess.
Please note: Our shelter is located in the Snowy Mountains. We are a 5 hour drive from Sydney and Melbourne and 2 to 3 hours from Canberra.
