Meet Hank Peggotty – Your New Best Mate with a Big Heart
English Staffy Cross – 2 years old – 21kg
Hank Peggotty is the kind of dog who wears his heart on his (adorably
wrinkled) sleeve. Sweet, snuggly, and incredibly affectionate, Hank is
the ultimate shadow dog—if you're looking for a loyal companion who just
wants to be near you, this gentle boy could be your perfect match.
Hank is still adjusting to the comforts of home life and learning what
it means to feel secure. He's a bit unsure about being left alone and is
showing signs of separation anxiety, so he's looking for someone patient
and committed to helping him build confidence with positive training and
lots of love. He's clever, eager to please, and will thrive with a
consistent routine.
He's been a star at the vet, handled car rides like a champ (though he
might try to sneak into the driver's seat for extra cuddles!), and he's
house trained—with a minor exception when left alone. Hank walks with
enthusiasm but could use some guidance on lead etiquette—he's more of a
zig-zagger than a puller. He hasn't had much exposure to basic commands
yet, but he already knows "get on your bed," and he's picking things up
as he settles in.
Hank can be a little wary of other dogs up close, occasionally growling
if they come too near, but he also sometimes strolls right past without
noticing them. With time and gentle socialisation, he may become more
comfortable. He hasn't been tested with cats or kids, but his friendly
nature suggests he may enjoy a lively family home—especially one with
someone around more often than not.
The ideal home for Hank?
Someone home more often than not, at least while he continues building
independence. A secure, calm environment with lots of love, snuggles,
and a willingness to invest in his training and confidence. A family
with a gentle, quiet dog companion might be a fit, but right now, he'd
likely do best as your one-and-only.
Hank has a lot of love to give—he just needs someone to show him the
world's a safe place. Could that be you?

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
