"Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became Princess of a town called... domesticated life."
Okay, so that may need a bit of work but it's a pretty fitting song to describe my life over the past 18 months. I've got a real rags to riches story for you all so settle in, get comfortable, and prepare to fall in love...
Like many stray kitties out there, life for me started a bit tough. I was a typical street cat: cold, hungry and surviving the best I could, but it was far from easy. Thankfully I was rescued by an Angel and now, every night, I have somewhere warm and safe to rest my head and a tummy that no longer rumbles.
The first few months in care were absolutely terrifying for me. I spent 99% of my time hiding under blankets and would only come out at night once my pawrents had gone to bed. Fast forward to the present day and I am a completely different kitty! Thanks to my foster siblings, I have learnt that domesticated life isn't all that bad. I spend my days playing with my friends and exploring everywhere and everything. No more blanket hiding for me!
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
It is really important to stress that, whilst I am growing in confidence every day, I am still wary of hoomans and still have a way to go before I trust them. I am not yet brave enough to be touched but I will come up and have a sniff of my Foster Mama when she is nearby. If she puts her hand out, I will just back away. I have never shown any kind of aggression to her or any of my foster siblings, in fact she says I have one of the sweetest and most gentle natures she has ever had the pleasure of meeting.
The first thing my foster parents learnt about me was that I LOVE my feline friends. When I was rescued from the streets I was found with two other cats and, since being in care, I have gravitated to all the resident kitties for company and reassurance. My Mama says that it is imperative that I join a family with other kitties so that I have someone to learn from and to help me settle further into domesticated life.
My pawrents don't think I have ever met dogs or kids before but they think I would do better with the older and more gentle, respectful, kind who will understand that I am timid and will need time and space to get used to my new surroundings.
Likes / Dislikes
My favourite thing in the whole world would have to be playing. My favourite toy is my squeaky mouse. I love chasing it around the house and carrying it about in my mouth. Foster Mama says I look absolutely adorable, but I think she's getting her words mixed up because I know she actually means big and terrifying.
Other things I love include eating (definitely a sure-fire way to my heart!), exploring and playing the days away with my furr-iends.
Even though my confidence has grown ten-fold, I am still timid and don't yet trust hoomans to touch me. Despite this, I get braver with every passing day and my pawrents are confident that it won't take long before I'm asking for pats and love.
Sudden movements and loud noises are still scary to me and I will run away and hide until I feel safe again. Thankfully, with the help of my friends, it never takes long before I'm back to being my silly little self again.
My PURR-fect home would be with a wonderfully kind and caring family who have endless amounts of love and patience while I continue on this journey into domestication. I am an exceptionally sweet and funny little girl who will, in the right environment, no doubt thrive and grow into the beautiful and loving kitty I was always destined to be.
Perth Rescue Angels recommends all cats are indoor only, unless they have access to a secure cat enclosure.
