About Tarz
🏡 Ideal Home:
• A loving environment where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation
• An experienced handler who can provide consistent training and guidance
• A home where he can be the only dog, with someone around most of the time
• An adult household that can help him continue to grow and thrive outside the shelter
Tarz is a big, strong boy with a heart as massive as his playful spirit. Though his past didn’t provide much direction, Tarz is quick to focus on his humans and is very willing to learn. His journey with our trainers has shown tremendous improvement, and he’s made great strides in his training. Once you win him over, you’ll see how truly affectionate he is. He absolutely loves a good cuddle, belly rubs, and all the attention he can get — he’s basically a giant teddy bear!
Unfortunately, Tarz had to have one of his ears removed, as chronic ear infections were causing him a lot of distress. After his surgery, a lot of his anxiety and discomfort were alleviated, and he has been feeling so much better. Tarz has also been diagnosed with Addison’s disease, a hormonal disorder that requires daily medication. Thankfully, he has now been on his medication for a few weeks, and we’re already seeing his spark come back! But in reality, the best outcome for Tarz would be finding a loving and caring home where he can continue to thrive.
While Tarz can get excited and sometimes jump when overstimulated, he’s eager to focus on his humans and respond to training. He’s shown signs of being toilet trained, and his playful side shines through with his favorite toy, which rarely leaves his sight.
Tarz thrives with routine and structure, needing a handler who can give him the guidance and boundaries he craves. He’s fine being the only dog in the household, and while he’s calm around other dogs, his socialization and lead training will need continued attention.
If you’re up for the rewarding challenge of giving this lovable big guy a chance, Tarz will repay you with endless affection, loyalty, and companionship. Ready for a cuddle buddy who also loves to play? Tarz is waiting for you! 💖
