About Gypsy - 6 Year Old Tenterfield Terrier
Meet Gypsy: Your loyal shadow
Gypsy is a six-year-old Tenterfield Terrier with a short white coat and adorable black marks. She loves-loves-loooves a good scratch under the collar from her chosen person and she’ll jump high up in the air out of pure joy when she sees them return to her.
Generally, Gypsy is a quiet girl who sleeps away most of the day. However, when she gets the gear on, she’ll loop around the yard like as if the race was on! This has been her form of exercise, as she is yet to learn to walk comfortably on the lead. She becomes elated when given the attention from her chosen person and is keenly practicing little tricks like “touch”.
She’s well-mannered and doesn’t beg by the dinner table – such habits will be yours to teach! Just like a typical intelligent Tenterfield Terrier, she’s closely following her person as much as she can, but she has quickly learned to stop at the door and wait for an invitation to enter. While she will probably first appear very anxious in a new home, she has been quite content after settling into her foster home and the neighbors have reported no excessive barking when left alone for a few hours.
An ideal environment for Gypsy would be a house with a doggy door, because she has always lived outside and hasn’t yet figured out how to ask to get out for her needs. She happily sleeps outside in her unlocked crate placed in an open-door laundry, but she’d surely love to sleep inside close to her forever family, if that was an option for her.
Gypsy is currently in a foster home with primary school children without any trouble. However, an ideal forever family for Gypsy would be a calm and kind adult home, because she is quite timid and keeps her distance from the kids as well as from any strangers, which is heartbreaking for them, as she is so cute they’d just want to cuddle her! She could also live happily with other chilled-natured dogs and – though untested – we believe she would be cool with other animals as well.
Gypsy has no known medical / health issues. She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date with treatments for fleas and worms. Her teeth were cleaned and nails clipped recently. She is currently in foster care at Belmont North, NSW and ready to move into her forever home. Gypsy’s adoption fee is $600.
