Meet Doza, an energetic and lively 8 year-old 23 kilo medium size Labrador /Kelpie mix who defies his age with his youthful spirit and appearance., Doza exhibits a remarkable zest for life, bounding with energy in every environment he encounters. His youthful demeanor and vibrant personality make it hard to believe that he is indeed an older dog.
Favorite Activities and Pastimes Doza has a deep love for outdoor adventures, particularly when it comes to going on walks. He thrives when he can roam off-lead, joyfully sprinting through expansive parklands and indulging his senses by sniffing everything in sight. Car rides are another source of excitement for Doza; he eagerly anticipates these journeys and is perfectly content in the back seat, especially when the windows are down, allowing him to enjoy the breeze. In addition to his love for exploration, Doza cherishes human affection, and cuddles rank high on his list of favorite things. He is always ready to snuggle up with his favourite human.
Interactions with Humans Doza is a social butterfly when it comes to interacting with people. He greets everyone he meets with enthusiasm and a wagging tail, often attempting to give them a friendly kiss. While he may be a bit jumpy at first, he quickly settles down and becomes a calm and affectionate companion. His interactions with humans have been consistently positive, and he is more than happy to curl up on the couch with you, offering endless cuddles and companionship.
Obedience and Training Doza is a well-trained dog, especially within the home environment. He understands basic commands such as “sit” and patiently waits for the cue before eating his meals. His recall when off-lead is impressive, even in the presence of other dogs. Doza is obedient when instructed to go to his mat, where he will relax until given further direction. He also responds well to being told to go outside and will remain there, even if the door is left open. However, on-lead, Doza’s excitement can sometimes get the better of him, leading to a desire to sniff everything and dart around. With a bit of additional training, he could improve his on-lead manners. It’s worth noting that Doza isn’t particularly fond of bicycles and may bark or attempt to lunge at them, so it’s advisable to avoid areas with heavy bike traffic.
Animal Social Skills Doza is a social dog who generally gets along well with other canines. He is polite and friendly around most dogs, although he has felt uneasy around a few larger ones. For this reason, it’s best to socialize him with well-mannered, calm dogs. While busy dog parks may not be ideal for his socialization, open spaces with plenty of room to run are perfect for him. Doza has successfully interacted with multiple family dogs without any issues, although he can become a bit excited or overwhelmed when on-lead, but this behavior is not excessive.
Dietary Preferences Doza is not overly food-driven, but he does enjoy treats such as pig’s ears and dental sticks. He consumes high-quality dry kibble in the morning and evening, although he often doesn’t finish it in one sitting, preferring to return to his food when he feels hungry. Independence and
Behavior Doza is an independent dog who is perfectly content spending time outside on his own. He is well-behaved and does not exhibit excessive barking or crying. His medium-length coat requires moderate grooming, and he enjoys a good brush or back scratch. While he may not be a fan of baths, he endures them patiently and follows commands during bath time. Doza is a sound sleeper and is comfortable sleeping in various locations, currently we let him sleep inside on his mat in the living room. He remains still throughout the night and is fully toilet trained.
Exercise Needs Despite his age, Doza thrives on physical activity and enjoys exploring the world around him. A daily walk where he can run off-lead and expend his energy is essential for his well-being. While he is an energetic dog, he also knows how to relax when needed.
Health and Medical Considerations Doza has received a clean bill of health from the vet and is in excellent condition for his age. While his teeth show some wear, no intervention is currently required. He is desexed and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Ideal Home Environment In an ideal world, Doza would find a loving home with a family that appreciates his affectionate nature and active lifestyle. He would thrive in a household with children who are dog-savvy and can handle his occasional bursts of excitement. An active family that enjoys outdoor adventures, whether it’s trips to the beach or off-track explorations, would be the perfect match for Doza. He would also make a great running companion, although long distances should be avoided due to his age. Doza is eager to shower his new owners with love and spend quality time with them. He would be suited to the company of another dog, preferably a polite and calm female with a moderate energy level but also able to comfortably live as your one and only Doza is a delightful and spirited dog who defies his age with his youthful energy and affectionate nature. He is ready to bring joy and companionship to a loving family that can provide him with the active lifestyle he craves.

ADOPTION CRITERIA
Adoption Criteria
A home with a nice size yard with secure fencing , grass for playing and shade and shelter from the elements
Another dog in the home would be great but if another dog is in residence we are seeking a female who is well socialized.kind and gentle
If children in the home we are seeking mature dog savvy
We have NOT tested him with cats
A home that is active and loves to spend time walking their dog
