About Lena
After raising and caring for her four puppies (all adopted!), Lena is ready to find her own forever home! She is a very chill dog with a very sweet personality that just wants to be loved. Lena gets along wonderfully with her male foster sibling and a submissive female friend, but she has displayed some tension with more dominant dogs. As a result, we believe Lena wouldn’t be the best suited to a home with a resident dominant dog. She hasn’t been tested with cats.
Lena loves her humans, and she will often rest her head in your hands or lap and look at you lovingly. She is a girls girl and has always been drawn more to women or girls, but is also fine living with men. Lena enjoys a bone, as well as exploring and sniffing around her foster carer’s property, but does prefer to stay by your side rather than going off to explore. While Lena will walk through creeks, she isn’t a fan of being sprayed with water by the hose or shower, so her adopters will need to be committed to slowly desensitising her to these or be happy to wash Lena in a bath.
She is already house-trained, leash-trained, and travels well in a car. Though Lena isn’t crate trained, she is easily trainable with treats, so any further training is possible. Her carers have taught her to sit and wait before eating her food, and have desensitised her fantastically to food and touch. Lena will gently take any offered food from your hand and doesn’t present any resource guarding when her food is moved away from her or when she is being fed with another dog. She is used to being touched around her face and body, even when eating, and doesn’t mind being picked up. If Lena is off exploring, she will return when called as well.
Lena is a low energy dog, though she occasionally gets the zoomies for 10 seconds if you excite her. When she is left at home when her carers are out, she spends most of the day sleeping, and has never barked or dug any holes. She is still overcoming some past trauma, specifically having objects held above or near her, but once Lena trusts you this begins to ease. Lena would thrive as a companion in a home with a single woman, couple, or family, where she is given all the love, affection, and patience she deserves.⠀
**PLEASE NOTE ** All animals will be vaccinated, desexed, microchipped, and up to date with preventatives (fleas, ticks, mites etc) at time of adoption. All dogs over 6 months at time of intake are also tested for heartworm, and treated if positive. If animals are too young for desexing at time of adoption, a desexing voucher will be provided to the adopter.
