About Checkers
We at Home2Home believe everyone deserves the joy that cat guardianship brings! We love seeing wonderful cats matched with loving adopters, and we don’t want adoption fees to be a barrier to you bringing a loving cat into your heart and home. So if Checkers sounds like the cat for you, we ask you to nominate your adoption fee amount. There is no minimum or maximum amount required, and all adoption fees continue to fund PetRescue’s life-saving programs that support pets and people!
Checkers is the kind of cat who believes strangers are just friends he hasn’t flopped in front of yet. Social to his core, he adores everyone he meets—whether you're his familiar human or someone dropping by for the first time. He'll usually greet you by gracefully flopping onto the floor, inviting you to give him a good pat (and trust us, he’s not shy about asking!). With his gentle, cuddly nature and a dash of playfulness, he brings joy and comfort to every room he’s in.
This gentle soul is looking for a calm and caring household where he can be doted on, preferably one where his people are home more often than not. He’d be a perfect match for someone retired or someone who works from home, and he’s best suited to an indoor-only lifestyle. Whether you’re young at heart or wise with years, if you’ve got a quiet lap and a warm home, Checkers is ready to be your loyal companion.
Checkers currently shares his home with a medium-sized dog, and their dynamic is one of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. He’s not one for drama—just a relaxed kind of guy who understands personal space but also delights in the occasional shared sniff and lounge. He’s curious and a little playful, often batting around cat toys like a kitten with a secret stash of energy.
He’s got a few favourite things that make him light up: mealtime (of course!) and a good ol’ chin scratch that makes him melt into a puddle of purrs. His days are slow and sweet—some time outside to sniff the breeze and back inside for snacks and snuggles. While he's happy to explore a bit, Checkers would love a home where he can live safely indoors, both for his health and to protect the local wildlife.
His perfect match? A calm household with loving humans who are around more often than not—maybe retirees, work-from-homers, or a young person looking for a loyal companion. If you’ve got a cozy spot on the couch and a soft voice for calling his name, Checkers is ready to curl up and make himself part of your world.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
