About Pluto STA012999
Meet Pluto, he first came into our care several months ago as a very frightened stray, untrusting of those around him. Pluto has had a hard start to life and needs a very patient and quiet home without young children or dogs. It is possible if given time he may do well with a confident feline friend.
Having been through a lot in his short life, he understandably still has his guard up around people. Sudden movements and loud noises can still cause Pluto to hiss and lash out in fear, he therefore needs a home experienced in owning behavioral cats. When Pluto first arrived he had hot spots on his skin, most likely caused by stress. Since settling into the shelter his skin issues have subsided, but there is no guarantee he won’t have flareups in the future when stressed.
Pluto has responded best to one on one contact, and over time has slowly started to show his softer side. Cooked chicken and paste treats are the way to his heart, which he has come to look forward to each day, and will aid in Pluto settling into a new home. After months of gaining trust with staff members he has come to like gentle pats on his terms. Pluto will not be your typical affectionate cat that you can pat and pick up right away. It will take months for him to settle into a new environment. With patience and a lot of love he has already shown he is on the way to trusting people, and is just waiting for someone to take a chance on him.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
