About Effie
Meet Effie!
After a horrendous start to life, Effie now finds herself, safe & in shelter, waiting to start the next chapter of her life.Having grown up as part of a back yard breeding operation, Effie & her siblings were subjected to cruelty, neglect & abuse. As a result of this, we've had to work very closely with them to help them trust & form a bond with humans. It was heartbreaking for us to see how very fearful they initially were of people.
Effie is a nervous girl, but we are seeing this beautiful girl slowly begin to gain confidence & come out of her shell. She can now be walked on a harness & be taken for walks. The big, wide world was something they had never seen so there are a lot of "firsts" that Effie has come across. The key to socialising a dog is to take it slowly & ensure that the dog has positive associations with new experiences.
Effie has lived with other dogs, but this was under very stressful conditions. She really enjoys the company of her brother, Tucker & may benefit from having a dog buddy in her life. A dog meet prior to adoption would be needed.
Effie has only known an outside life, however if you are willing to let her live indoors with you, be mindful that she will need time & patience for toilet training.
Prospective adopters may need to visit Effie more than once at the shelter to start gaining her trust & forming a bond or she can be placed in foster care with the most suitable applicant & can be adopted if the right fit.
Effie is looking for a patient, understanding & compassionate home with a family who will give her the time she needs to adjust & settle. It may take her a few months to heal from her trauma, but she is worth the wait.
