About Iris
Iris is even more beautiful than the flower she is named after. Her stunning merle coat and large pricked ears make her stand out and you can’t help but fall in love with her inquisitive little face. Surrendered into rescue to avoid entering the pound system, Iris has caught a lucky break. She is in care with a dog trainer who has been giving her special attention to get her on the best path in life. All she needs now is a new owner willing to continue the journey with her.
Iris has come along in leaps and bounds in her foster home. She is a smart puppy who is willing and eager to learn so she will need someone who wants to do something a bit more with her than just a daily lap around the block. Already, Iris is crate trained and even waits patiently in her crate when taken along to the local dog training group. Out and about, she is walking really well on the lead and is keen to explore the world. She travels well in the car so is a great candidate for a home who wants to get out on some adventures – hiking, beach trips, camping – she’ll be the type of dog who will happily do it all with you. At home she is toilet trained and learning all the goings of living inside a home well. Iris is sleeping in her crate at night and going through without a peep.
Iris came to us under socialised with people and the wider world. But thanks to her foster carer she is catching up on these key skills. Her new owner must be willing and have the skills to continue appropriate training and exposure with Iris. Currently, she will have a little bark to let you know if something new startles her or makes her feel unsure to let you know she needs your support and guidance. She will need further confidence building and desensitisation to new experiences; however, she has already shown up how quickly she can make excellent progress and we have no doubt she will shine brightly in her new home.
We have been informed that the mother of this girl is a Dane mix, and the father is a German Shepherd. Iris seems to have slightly more of the German Shepherd type personality and traits. She is loyal and loving, as well as switched on which you can see in the way she takes in the world around her. She really is going to make someone a very good companion and teammate in life. Iris is dog social and loves to play with her doggy friends. She is currently in care with her sister Indigo, and they romp around together joyfully wrestling. Iris can live in a home with another adult dog who is already fully trained and ready to be a great role model to her or as an only dog.
We are looking for a new home for Iris who has previous dog experience with larger dogs and some training knowledge to ensure that she continues to blossom into the wonderful adult dog we know she will become. Her new owner should be able to provide Iris with appropriate daily mental and physical stimulation to keep her healthy and happy throughout her life. She will need a home with a yard and should be allowed to sleep inside at night. Iris should also be allowed to come inside the home to spend time with people and be included in the daily activities and outings of the household. Iris is young enough to be integrated with other types of pets or children given the appropriate guidance (children would need to be confident with larger dogs and typical puppy behaviours).

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
