About Truffles rsua005982
Introducing Truffles, a handsome fellow with a personality as captivating as his name. Truffles is an affectionate and inquisitive guy who loves soaking up attention and being part of your daily life.
Truffles is a clever cat with a penchant for exploration. Notably, his intelligence extends to opening doors, which always adds an element of surprise to his adventures around the house. He thrives in a quiet, tranquil environment where he can remain relaxed and at ease. An easy-going companion, Truffles enjoys a serene lifestyle that allows him to focus on what he loves most—enjoying the company of his humans.
While Truffles is friendly and loving, the hustle and bustle of a home with children or dogs causes him stress, he is best suited to a quiet, indoor-only home, free from the stresses of active kids or canine companions. This environment is especially important as his health condition requires regular monitoring, and a calm setting will help him live comfortably.
Truffles is searching for a special human who values his kind-hearted nature and is looking for a loyal family member. If you have a quiet home and are ready to enjoy the affectionate companionship of a truly remarkable gentleman, Truffles could be your perfect match.
Medical notes
Truffles has a grade 4-5 systolic heart murmur. Blood tests have been done as well as a cardiac ultrasound. He has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thickening of the heart muscles). As a result of the thickening, there is a significant regurgitation around the mitral valve as well as some regurgitation around the tricuspid valve.
He is currently not showing any signs of congestive heart failure but will need to be monitored closely but any clinical signs of that occurring. These signs can include an increase in his resting respiratory rate (RRR> 30 breaths/min), difficulty breathing, exercise intolerance, cyanosis (palish or bluish tinge to gums), collapse, and/or inability to use his back legs.
Please seek prompt veterinary advice should any of above symptoms occur. Medical management can be started if clinical signs are starting.
It is recommended that a repeat cardiac ultrasound is to be performed in 6 months (~ Aug 2025).
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
