Beauty and brains! Miss Indigo has the lot!

Everywhere she goes, this stunning puppy turns heads. Her striking merle coat and large pricked ears make her stand out. Surrendered into rescue to avoid entering the pound system, Indigo has caught a lucky break. She is in care with a dog trainer who has been giving her special attention to get her on the best path in life. All she needs now is a new owner willing to continue the journey with her.

Indigo is smashing goas in her foster home. She is a smart puppy who is willing and eager to learn. Already, Indigo is crate trained and even waits patiently in her crate when taken along to the local dog training group. Out and about, she is walking really well on the lead to explore the world. She travels well in the car so is a great candidate for a home who wants to do a bit more of something with her in life than just walking the local area. Fun hikes, beach trips, camping adventures – she’ll be the type of dog who will be a great companion for it all eventually. At home she is toilet trained and learning all the goings of living inside a home well. Indigo is sleeping in her crate at night and going through without a peep.

Indigo came to us under socialised with people and the wider world. But thanks to her foster carer she is catching up on these key skills. Her new owner must be willing and have the skills to continue appropriate training and exposure with Indigo. Currently, she will have a little bark to let you know if something new startles her or makes her feel unsure to let you know she needs your support and guidance. She will need further confidence building and desensitisation to new experiences; however, she has already shown up how quickly she can make excellent progress and we have no doubt she will shine brightly in her new home.

We have been informed that the mother of this girl is a Dane mix, and the father is a German Shepherd. Indigo seems to have slightly more of the Dane type personality. She can be goofy and bounces around for fun. It’s absolutely adorable to watch. Indigo is dog social and loves to play with her doggy friends. She is currently in care with her sister Iris, and they romp around together joyfully wrestling. Indigo loves playtime so much she will need her new owner to remind her when it’s time to stop and have some calm time instead. If there is another dog in the household, they will need to be able to tolerate her want to play and enjoy joining in but will still need the owner to step in and ensure everyone gets their down time as well.

We are looking for a new home for Indigo who has previous dog experience with larger dogs and some training knowledge to ensure that she continues to blossom into the wonderful adult dog we know she can become. Her new owner should be able to provide Indigo with appropriate daily mental and physical stimulation to keep her healthy and happy throughout her life. She will need a home with a yard and should be allowed to sleep inside at night. Indigo should also be allowed to come inside the home to spend time with people and be included in the daily activities and outings of the household. Indigo is young enough to be integrated with other types of pets or children given the appropriate guidance (would need to be confident with larger dogs and mouthy puppies still).
