Benson Boony

Meet the loveable happy go lucky little Maltese x ( We think Schnauzer mix ) Benson Boon or Benny for short. Benny loves snuggles on the couch, playing with his dog friends and a trip to Bunnings to get pats and love from everyone who is willing.
Our sweet little fluff ball is a 7 kilo loveable fella who now seeks his forever family home.
Little Benny is a sweet and affectionate little guy who just wants to be with his people and be involved in all of the daily activities. He loves cuddles on the couch, helping in the garden or following you around the house. He is very friendly and confident with people and other dogs, taking everything in his stride.
Benny’s favourite thing is getting pats, cuddles and attention from his people. He loves sitting on your lap on the couch and he will happily put his tummy in the air and snore away. If you give him ear scratches, he will love you forever. He also loves going for a walk and exploring the outside world, as well as going for a ride in the car.
Benny greets both people and other dogs with confidence, and will happily accept pats and cuddles from new people. He has not been tested with children but would be fine with them.
Benny has quickly picked up basic commands with the help of treats (which he is very keen on), but needs to work on calmly waiting for a treat rather than snatching it when there are other dogs in the house. His recall is coming along, although he will need more practice in distracting environments. He will pick up other commands quickly due to his love of treats. He loves going in the car and travels happily and calmly.
Benny has been living with three older dogs in foster care. He absolutely loves them and happily follows them around and curls up with them to sleep. He is not concerned with even much larger dogs, happily playing with them if they want to play with him. He has met a cat and didn’t seem overly interested in it. He has chased kangaroos (and is surprisingly fast!), but does come back when he feels like he’s made his point.
Benny has been eating a mix of premium food and raw . He loves food and happily eats what he is given.
Benny is happy to enjoy a bone or chew, or is fine with just sitting and watching the world go by or flopping down, superman style, and having a snooze when nothing is going on, but he doesn’t much like being left on his own so we feel he will need a little friend dog to keep him company or someone who is not gone for extended long days if an only dog but he might be a little unsettled for a short time but does settle,
Benny is fine with being groomed and has now been professionally groomed , and particularly enjoys a brush. He is comfortable with having his feet touched and being picked up and is very trusting with his people. He will require a home where his family are willing to maintain his beautiful coat as it will grow
Benny is happy sleeping on a dog bed on the floor as long as he is near his people, and will happily settle down at bedtime and sleep through the night.
Benny loves a walk and walks well on lead, however he can be over excited to see other dogs and bark excitedly . He loves a good sniff and run around. He has been getting an early morning walk as well as an afternoon one in foster care.
Benny is toilet trained. He can be a little stubborn at times but that's a young boy thing lol and his breed too but gentle encouragement and treats generally help. He isn’t destructive and is just generally a very good dog.
Benny’s ideal home would be with someone who is home more often than not or a friend to be his BFF . He would love to have another friendly dog to play with, and would be fine with kids. He would like a yard that he can explore and just to be involved in all of the family’s activities.
ADOPTION CRITERIA
A home with a nice yard ,secure fencing and shade and shelter from the elements
A home with another dog who loves to play would be great as he adores the company
A home with kids would be fine but we seek mature dog savvy kids
Please be mindful Benny is a young dog and will require ongoing training and we are seeking a youthful home due to his long life expectancy being a smaller breed
A home who are prepared to maintain his coat as it will grow long
A home what can take him on outings and ensure he is a member of the family
A home where he is an indoor outdoor boy
