Meet Smoochy – Your Sweet and Snuggly Shadow!

Smoochy is a heart-meltingly adorable black toy poodle with a gentle soul and a loving nature. This quiet, shy little guy is still getting used to the world, but with each passing day, he’s discovering just how wonderful life can be.

Currently in foster care with a 5-year-old cocker spaniel, Smoochy gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company. He arrived at the pound in such a matted state that he needed to be clipped under sedation, so right now, he looks more like a sheared baby lamb than a poodle—but don’t worry, his signature curls will be back before you know it!

Despite a rough start in life, Smoochy is a lover, not a fighter. True to his name, one of his favorite hobbies is giving kisses—to his human and his foster sister alike! He’s happiest when he’s close to his person and, if it were up to him, would never leave your side. He’s learning to be independent and now sleeps in his own bed, tolerating short periods of alone time with gentle encouragement. In the meantime, while he gains confidence, his dream home would be with a person who is home more often than not.

Smoochy is also learning the ropes of leash walking, though he still prefers being carried so he can take in the sights and sounds of the big, exciting world around him. This tiny explorer has a playful side—he loves chasing after birds, much larger dogs and has impressive recall! He’s also got a knack for fashion and wears a knit like no other.

Smoochy can be a little bit fearful around new people, particularly if they approach him too fast or catch him off guard. His adopters must be committed to working on this with him and continued to build up his confidence with patience and training.
