Meet Moby,
Moby is the ultimate happy-go-lucky dog, a big-hearted goof ball who brings the fun wherever he goes! Whether you're a first-time dog owner or a seasoned pro, Moby is ready to slot right into your life with his adaptable and easy going nature.
This lovable goof always means well and tries his best - even if his enthusiasm sometimes gets ahead of him! He’s playful, social, and full of affection, making him the perfect buddy for active individuals or families who love a good adventure. Walks? He’s in! Playtime? Absolutely! Cuddles? You bet!
Moby’s always excited about life, new friends, and fun experiences. He does have a slightly selective palate (a fancy way of saying he’s a bit fussy with treats), but you wouldn’t guess it from his adorably portly figure! And if you ever catch him wiggling around like he’s got ants in his pants - don’t worry, that’s just classic Moby energy!
If you're looking for a dog who's full of personality and guaranteed to make you smile every day, Moby is your guy!
Ideal Home: Moby is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Moby is open to meet kids of any age, but families with young children should be aware that he still plays like a puppy and may unintentionally knock over smaller kids during playtime.
Moby is fine to spend time in the yard on his own - but he would like to be included in indoor activities with his new family. Moby is able to entertain himself and is suitable to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Moby is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment he was excited to meet the other dog. He had a nice, loose body, big tail wags & butt wiggles. He is a very happy boy with puppy-like behaviour when it comes to playing with other dogs but he can show moments of calm behaviour once the novelty of a new friend has worn off.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Moby would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Moby would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would also be good to ensure that the doggy social skills that he already has don't go to waste. Moby is known to jump up to say hello - this is a behaviour that we are working on with him.
With time to settle & ongoing training, Moby could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friend café or social setting.
Moby is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit & shake. He is smart & trainable. Moby isn't that food motivated but when he is tempted by a treat he is known to be gentle when taking them from you - having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea - you just have to find the ones he likes.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Moby has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him healthy & satisfied. Moby shows some interest in playing with toys, but he really enjoys personal play with his handlers & other dogs.
Moby walks well on lead but can pull a little sometimes. He is best to be walked on a martingale or harness. Moby needs to learn re-call training.
Staff Comments: Moby is fine for most owners & lifestyles. He's been dubbed as an ideal 'first dog' for new dog owners. He's a bit of a goof ball sometimes but he's very sweet & such a happy boy. Nothing phases him. He's quite placid & very excited about this crazy world we live in.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
