About Honey Bun
What is sweeter than a sundae with a cherry on top? Honey Bun is.
This little lady has had a rough start time recently - she has found herself out of her comfort zone and all alone - she isn't really sure what is going on and is looking for some stability and patience while she navigates this very difficult time.
Our little sweetheart is lacking confidence with most things and is going to need a caring family that is ready to let her true personality shine. We won't lie - Honey Bun is going to need some work - she hasn't had the foundation skills that most dogs have had. She is avoidant of new people to start with - but once she realizes they mean no harm you will be rewarded with such a gentle soulmate.
Honey Bun lacks basic skills so we encourage lots of force-free positive training to help her get up to speed - just remember she is going through an emotional time - this may take longer than normal for her to really settle into your home and become responsive to training.
Honey Bun is very underconfident in the Shelter - she does not particularly want friends at this time so a home where there are no other pets is an absolute must. This is the same for children. Little children can be intimidating for dogs like Honey Bun, so we require that all people in the household be adults and have the ability to give Honey Bun her space when she needs it.
Not all animals can walk into a new home and be comfortable - Honey is one of those special cases, that is going to require a very special home. She also comes with some on-going support from our public vet clinic - Lost Dogs' Home Veterinary Hospital for some future vet work that may be needed which we just don't believe should be done just yet (once she is settled into a home she will recover much better). Our wonderful Behaviour Team are here to help guide you through your initial stages of Honey Bun Parenting!
If you have a sweet tooth and you can be the peanut butter to her chocolate, then come down to The Lost Dogs' Home North Melbourne today and spend some time falling in love with Honey Bun.
