About Finch
This handsome chap goes by the name of Finch! Summed up, this boy is affectionate, intelligent, playful and lots of fun. Finch arrived to us from a rural nsw pound with two of his siblings. He was very nervous and unhandled upon arrival, but has blossomed into a lovely puppy and all he needs now is a forever home with owners who are willing to continue his exposure and training to continue his good progress.
Finch is dog social and has met some friendly dogs while in care. He is currently living with a cavoodle more on the timid side. Due to the big wide world being new for him, he does sometimes bark at other dogs on leash when he’s feeling insecure. Due to this, he will need to experienced handlers to ensure his confidence develops. With dogs he is introduced with he is playful but also respectful of the other dog if they need space. We feel finch would do best in a home with another dog and that other dog must be confident and have no poor behaviours in leash to ensure Finch has a good role model. If he goes to a home with no other dogs, any potential homes will need to ensure they have the experience to transition him to an only dog household as he gets a lot of confidence from having another canine around. Either way due to his young age, Finch will need continued socialisation with other dogs, preferably in the form of pack walks and playtime with other known and friendly dogs.
Finch is learning his basic training and how to walk on a leash as collars and leashes were all new to him! He is pretty much toilet trained as long as his carers are diligent with taking him out and not allowing him too much free rein inside when unsupervised. He sleeps through the night on a bed in his carers’ room and travels well in the car. His new owners will need to be prepared to put in lots of continued training to ensure he grows up into a well-balanced adult dog. Finch is an energetic little dog and will require plenty of daily exercise as an adult to ensure he’s happy. He is not going to be a lapdog.
Due to his young age, Finch will need a home with people home most of the time. He will need very good fencing as he is a small 2.5kg at 4 months old.
As we have no history on Finch prior to entering the pound, we are unsure of his breed makeup but looking at the litter it is evident they are small breed mixes, however one of the siblings has cattle dog markings on his legs so any potential homes will need to have experience with dogs that are higher drive than a lot of little breeds are. That being said, he is a very lovely little pup and has done so well meeting so many new people and going new places since coming into care. He has met and been great with children and even lives with two teenagers. However, we will a home with no children or teenagers and up would be best to ensure he has enough quiet time to decompress and work on his development.
If you would like to make this gorgeous boy a member of your family and continue his education to becoming a lovely adult canine, then please fill out an adoption enquiry form on our website. Please include as much detail as you can about your current lifestyle, previous dog experience and the fun adventures you can offer Finch as the coordinator handling his applications is very time poor and will only have time to call a few of the best sounding applications to take to the interview stage.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
