About Bear - 11 Year Old Labrador X
Meet Bear, a handsome old guy looking for the perfect home to live out his golden years.
Bear is a sweet and goofy 11 year old Labrador x (it is a mystery what he is mixed with, take your guesses!).
Despite his age, Bear's zest for life keeps him young at heart and very agile. The only give away of his age being his salt and pepper face and stiff hips at the end of the day. Bear has so much love to give and very much enjoys receiving all the love in return. His 11 years of life prior to coming into care with DRN are a mystery but in foster care, Bear has adapted quickly and been a very easy, chill guy.
Bear LOVES
- FOOD! A typical lab, Bear will sniff out food and demolish his meals quickly. His belly never too full for a little more dinner or some treats. He is however, respectful of his humans and doesn't beg for food when they are eating.
- WALKS! Bear is a spritely old fella who loves getting out to sniff all over town and feel the wind on his face. He has learnt his routine in foster care quickly and lets his carers know if they are a bit late on the schedule for his daily walks. Once he sees his lead being picked up, his tail wagging becomes full body wagging. Bear walks well on the lead and due to his age and arthritis in his hips, is best suited to shorter walks in the morning and evening rather than one long walk.
- WATER! Another typical lab trait, Bear loves to be in the water. He is very happy to splash around in the lake chasing fish and will do this for hours if you let him.
- PEOPLE! Bear loves people, he will love being close to you and keeping an eye on what you're doing. Loves pats and belly rubs. He is curious about the people he sees on his walks and wants to say hello to them all.
- BALLS! Bear loves to chase the soccer ball and tennis balls around the yard and show off his catching skills.
Bear is happy to say a sniff hello when passing most other dogs on walks but hasn’t shown interest in playing with other dogs. He is not aggressive but is a loyal and protective dog and will bark if he feels threatened.
Whilst Bear is very people oriented, he is also an independent guy and is happy in the backyard when his foster carers are not home. He rarely barks and is not destructive, he will find a sunny spot to laze the day away while he waits for your return. Bear has not been tested with kids.
Bear sleeps inside on his blanket and is settled for the whole night.
Bear has a heart murmur that is currently not impacting his daily life and activities but will need regular monitoring by his adoptive family and check ups with the vet.
If you're looking for a loyal, relaxed companion who will bring a smile to your face every day, Bear might just be your perfect match.
Bear is in foster care in Swansea, NSW. His adoption fee is $150. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms.
