About Potter
Hi! I'm Potter and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR POTTER
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/LmFNGgNnby7pLmTeA
NOTE: You are unable to meet Potter until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Potter in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
• Secure Fencing (no little gaps or holes I could squeeze through!)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I enjoy the company of other dogs my own size but am NOT keen on bigger dogs
• I can be shy at first, especially on my own, so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time. Other dogs really helps me come out of my shell when meeting new people.
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy, and we must be introduced slowly.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
• Being a young pupper (with little to no life experience) I will adapt & learn easily, how I mature will only be a reflection of you & my upbringing
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children (under 5) as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
My best features:
• Very playful
• LOVES other dogs, I need
• Wiggle butt
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Social butterfly
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war with my doggie friends, I'm reluctant to play with people on my own yet.
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• As I have not been allowed inside before I am not housetrained yet
