Dude

This is Dude, a lovable Mastiff x with a heart as big as his paws.

This gentle boy is approximately four years old and weighs around 35kg. He’s partially deaf and therefore someone who will continue his training using visual cues, patience and a safe environment will continue to improve his confidence.

Dude is the smartest dog and is extremely attentive learning after just a couple of times for each new behaviour adjustment/ training technique.

Despite the challenges he's faced, Dude has a lot of love to give to the right person or family ready to welcome him into their lives. Poor Dude was locked in a backyard with another dog for a few years and the more kids the family had the less time Dude got with them and then they decided they no longer wanted him and he was destined to the pound and a sad fate so he came to rescue to give him the chance of the life he always deserved but never had.

Dude has an incredibly affectionate nature. He walks well on a lead, although he can be cautious when confronted with unfamiliar sights or sounds.

Dude will need to be house trained in a new environment. We can help with a trainer to give advice if needed as well for his ongoing training. He is currently learning to feel confident and not have so much separation anxiety. If he is bored he has been known to chew things so Dude needs a home with someone home most of the time or who will take him with them on adventures. He is happy to wait in the car if you have to pop out somewhere but at the moment only able to stay home short amounts of time but is getting better every day.

Dude is looking for the right family who are prepared to continue to work with him and continue to build that confidence. He would do well with another dog and dog savvy energetic kids to keep him company. Dude deserves a new beginning filled with compassion, stability, and care.

He would flourish in a home with a decent yard and good fencing, where he can enjoy access both inside and out. Since Dude bonds so deeply and has had a turbulent past, someone who is home most of the time would be ideal to provide him with the comfort and security he craves.
