About Outlaw
Meet our charming little Outlaw, affectionately known to everyone as Lawsy. This delightful True to breed Australian Stumpy tail cattle dog pup has captured the hearts of many with his endearing personality and his short, stumpy tail that wags with boundless enthusiasm giving you the cutest little head tilt whenever you speak to him. Lawsy is truly the epitome of sweetness, a little gentleman who is remarkably well-behaved for his age. He is seldom jumpy or mouthy, making him an ideal companion for a young, active family seeking a calm and composed presence around the home.
Lawsy’s list of favorite activities are varied. He absolutely loves playing with the resident dogs, engaging in games of tug-of-war, and chasing after toys with unbridled joy. Walks in the park are a particular highlight for him, providing the perfect opportunity to stretch his legs and indulge in some exhilarating zoomies. Cuddles are another of his cherished pastimes, and he finds great satisfaction in chewing on cow hooves, a treat he relishes.
When it comes to interacting with people, Lawsy is a true delight. He has a natural affinity for humans and displays a level of politeness that is impressive for a puppy. He has mastered the art of sitting patiently for a pat and is rarely mouthy or jumpy, making him a wonderful companion for dog savvy children. His little stumpy tail wags with excitement when you return home after a day out, and he eagerly welcomes a good head or belly scratch, showering you with affection in return.
In terms of his interactions with other animals, Lawsy initially exhibited some caution and a bit of barkiness around unfamiliar dogs, which is not uncommon for pups of his age. However, with dedicated effort, he has been introduced to dogs at parks and has had positive experiences with polite canine companions, helping him build confidence. If he feels uncomfortable, he may nip, but this is solely due to his unease. Currently, Lawsy resides with three adult dogs and has grown comfortable in their presence, developing excellent play skills. We recommend enrolling him in group obedience classes for a few months to further boost his confidence. A calm yet playful female dog would be an excellent influence on him. During mealtimes, he is fed alongside other dogs under supervision, learning to eat only from his own bowl.
Lawsy is a little superstar when it comes to obedience, exposure, and play. He thrives on learning new things and is hand-fed some of his meals while working on basic obedience commands. He has already mastered sitting, waiting, and coming when called, and is beginning to master commands like drop, bed, and crate. His food motivation makes training a breeze. On walks, Lawsy is a model of good behavior, walking beautifully on the lead and rarely pulling. He maintains great engagement, frequently checking in with his human companions. His recall practice on a long lead has been outstanding in low-stimulus environments, and with continued training, he is expected to have excellent off-lead recall in the future.
Lawsy is still finding his way in the world and may be cautious of new unfamiliar object, he’s been exposed to cars, bikes, water play at the park, engaging games, car travel, other dogs
Playtime is a highlight of Lawsy’s day, and he thoroughly enjoys games of tug and chasing after toys thrown for him. He takes great pride in carrying his favorite toy in his mouth, feeling like a clever boy. While he does have a penchant for stealing shoes, he has not destroyed or chewed them, much to the amusement of his foster mom, who is often on the hunt for a missing runner. Being a working breed, Lawsy will benefit from continued play development to ensure his play drive skills are met. We suggest interactive games like flirt poles, tug, and chase to keep him engaged and entertained.
When it comes to sleep, Lawsy is a dream. He sleeps soundly in his crate throughout the night without any issues and patiently waits until morning to be let out. At 10 p.m., he is taken out for a wee and then carried into his crate, where a blanket is placed over it. He may whine for a minute but quickly settles down to sleep. He is usually let out of the crate at 7:30 a.m. for another wee.
Inside the house, Lawsy is well-behaved, often choosing to nap on the carpet in the evening. Occasionally, he may jump on the couch, but he is easily redirected to the floor. Like all puppies, he is supervised indoors to prevent any chewing mishaps, but he has been remarkably good in this regard.
Outside, Lawsy spends a significant amount of time and thoroughly enjoys it, especially when provided with things to entertain himself, such as a cow hoof to chew on, one of his favorites. He is content to snooze the day away in the sun alongside the other dogs. While he may bark a little during play or at possums, he is generally quiet for most of the day.
Car travel is another adventure Lawsy relishes, as it often means a trip to the park. He eagerly attempts to get into the back of the car by putting his paws up, but his legs are still a bit too short to jump up, so he requires a little assistance to get his bottom half in.
In terms of hygiene and toilet training, Lawsy is about 90% house-trained and does exceptionally well when taken out in the morning, evening, and during the day. While there have been occasional accidents, he holds it in all night while in his crate. His medium coat is easy to care for, though there will be some shedding. He enjoys being brushed and has tolerated baths well.
Lawsy’s diet consists of premium puppy food served twice a day, supplemented with raw chicken hearts or chicken carcasses, which he thoroughly enjoys. He will need to continue on puppy food until he reaches 12 months of age.
In terms of his ideal home, Lawsy would make a fantastic family dog and would do well around children who are dog-savvy and understand canine boundaries. Children aged three and up will be considered due to his gentle nature. He would thrive in a home with other well-socialized, polite dogs that can tolerate some puppy energy. A family committed to ongoing training, exposure, and socialization is essential to help him develop into a well-behaved adult dog. Lawsy would thrive in a family that includes him in their daily lives and allows him to be a cherished family member. While experience with the breed is ideal, applicants must have previous dog experience.
An active family that provides both physical and mental stimulation through walks and play will be perfect for him. Due to his working breed nature, a home with some space is necessary, so apartments or courtyards will not be considered.
A family that continues to nurture his play drive and engagement during the crucial first two years of development will be ideal. Children aged five and up will be considered due to his gentler nature
