Meet Pudge,
Looking for a best friend who’s equal parts fabulous and floofy? Pudge is a curvy queen with a heart of gold and a love for adventure!
Don’t let her “extra loveable” physique fool you - Pudge adores her walks and would be a great match for an active families or individuals. She’s a social butterfly who loves meeting new people, exploring new places, and occasionally staring off into space like she just forgot why she walked into the room. (Relatable, right?)
Pudge is sweet, friendly, and adaptable - she’ll fit into any home, whether it’s a lively household or a peaceful retreat. She’s also mastered the art of being effortlessly cool: affectionate when you need a cuddle, independent when you need space, and always ready to strike a pose for the camera (seriously, narrowing her photos down to only five was nearly impossible).
So, if you’re ready to welcome a little extra love (and a lot of personality) into your life, come meet Pudge!
Ideal Home: Pudge is suitable to live in any home/property type, as long as the yard is medium to large with high, secure fencing.
Family: Pudge is open to meet kids of any age - she's not super playful, so there is no concern when it comes to smaller kids being knocked over.
Pudge would love the freedom to move between indoors and outdoors, enjoying the best of both worlds! Pudge cherishes her time indoors, as she loves being around people and soaking up their company. Pudge is suitable to live with people who work full-time hours as she is capable of entertaining herself when home alone.
Furry Friends: Pudge must be the only dog in the home. During her dog assessment she showed minimal reaction to the other dog, but became avoidant. As the assessment went on, Pudge grew uncomfortable, not wanting to interact with the other dog anymore (in a respectful way). Despite this, she is able to be walked around other dogs, she just is not interested in making friends.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Pudge would go meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Pudge would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Pudge isn't a jumpy dog, but she does do a little 'toe tap' dance due to her excitement for a walk.
Pudge is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as: sit - while this may not seem like much, she isn't a dog that needs a lot of training. Pudge is also food motivated & takes treats from you gently. Having treats on you during training, to mark good behaviour, would be an excellent idea, too.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Pudge has low to mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins every other day to keep her happy & content. Pudge doesn't show too much interest in playing with toys, she prefers going for walks, snoozing on her bed, personal play with her handlers.
Pudge walks well on lead with minimal pulling - even if she does pull, she is gentle & will come back when you call her. She is fine to be walked on any walking apparatus.
Staff Comments: Pudge is a very sweet & gentle dog who loves attention, pats & cuddles. We imagine that she will be a bit of a couch potato in her new home. She's a funny girl who is will make you laugh & will be a great addition into any home.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
