Pepper - 3 Year Old Staffy X

I’m Pepper, a super affectionate and loyal bundle of love, at my happiest when just chilling out with my family.

I weigh around 15kg, which makes me a nice in-between size — small enough to sit on your lap, easy to cuddle, and just right for most homes. I enjoy my walks and I’m great on a lead. I love the dog park to just sniff out new friends. I don’t need lots of exercise, I’m more of a "let’s hang out and enjoy the day" kind of boy.

I’m a playful pup who likes other dogs, especially those close to my own size. Bigger dogs can scare me. If you have a friendly, laid-back dog already, I’d love the company. I’ve also lived around cats and know how to respect their space. I don’t chase or fuss — I just let them do their thing.

I’m good with kids, as long as they know how to respect my space. I don’t like rough play, but if they’re calm and kind, I’m happy to be their friend. Probably best if they are at least 7 years old unless they are super experienced with dogs.

I’m crate trained and will happily settle in my crate when it’s time to rest. That said, if you invite me up onto your bed, I’ll definitely take you up on it.

I am good with basic commands, I will sit and come, and am learning lots of other new things, aided by food treats.

I’m a homebody at heart. Indoors is where I’m most comfortable — near people, in a quiet space, part of the rhythm of your everyday life. I like to be close, but I’m not clingy. I just enjoy your presence.

I had a pretty traumatic start to life, and because of that, I’m still quite timid. So you’ll need to be patient whilst I settle and find my place in your family. Because of this, I wouldn’t suit a very busy household with new people constantly coming and going.

I am not suited to a home where I’m left alone while you’re at work, unless there’s another dog to keep me company. It’d be great to bond with another dog, one that is pretty calm and can show me how to relax.

Pepper is in foster care in Forestville, NSW. His adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
