George is a little Chihuahua mix dog (we were advised crossed with Basenji) who although gorgeous, will need a patient and understanding new owner, preferably someone who has experience with Chihuahuas. George came to SAFE Bunbury when his elderly owner was unable to care for him any longer. Taken from his home into the care of a new person, George was very confused and overwhelmed and retreated into his shell. After a day or so George took a real shine to the older child in his foster home and this started the process of gradually gaining trust and feeling safe. He does generally seem to prefer women to men.

Fast forward to today - George is much more settled. He likes to be gently picked up and will give licky kisses to his carer. He is good on lead, and sleeps well at night at the end of his carer's bed. He is toilet trained however access to a doggy door would be a big plus in his new home as he does need to go when he needs to go, and will have the odd accident indoors if he has no way outside. Given that he's still a little snappy if surprised or takes things the wrong way, he is not suited to a home with young children or the elderly who might not be able to move away quickly enough. From previous experience with similar Chihuahuas, we believe George will improve as he learns to trust and love his new owner, and blossom into a much more confident and therefore happy little dog.

George gets along with other well behaved dogs however is untested with cats and other animals.

MEDICAL NOTES
Adoption fee includes vet check, vaccination, microchip (including transfer of ownership fee), flea and worm treatment and sterilisation. George came into our care in need of urgent dental care. He had 19 teeth removed and is now feeling much better! Like all dogs, particularly small dogs, George will require annual teeth checks.

ADOPTION NOTES
Our adoption process for the successful applicant includes a meet and greet, (including your own dog if applicable), a home check (or photos of your yard and fencing to be supplied to us if not local), and a two week trial period to ensure your chosen dog is the right fit for your home.

All adoption fees must be deposited into our SAFE Bunbury bank account in full before adoption trial starts (we cannot accept cash). The Adoption Agreement will be emailed to the selected applicant in advance of meeting your chosen dog.

After the adoption trial period has been completed we arrange transfer of ownership of the dog's microchip to the new owner, and email out the vet records.
