Meet Pilmore our sensitive soul who was found wandering & saved by some lovely locals evacuating the recent bushfires in the Wimmera region.
We named him Pilmore after some terrific CFA volunteers that helped save the town of Dimboola where he was found.
With some great coordination between roadside rescuers, Horsham council evacuation kennel support, Phoenix Animal Rescue (mammoth effort to wash him & drive hours to deliver him) & then into the hands of our volunteers who drove for hours, trimmed his dreads & made him feel safe & loved, he is now ready for his forever home. Will it be you? 💗
About Pilmore:
🔹 Size: approx 32kg – a smaller boy for the breed type & could carry a few more kgs
🔹 Breed experience is preferred
🔹 Personality: A sweet, quiet boy with legs like springs when he dances or wants to run. Excited but nervous about the world, though he grows in confidence daily. He needs a patient home and a friend or stay at home person to curb his insecurity.
🔹 Training: Not much if any formal training, but his loving temperament makes up for it. He’s confused by commands & treats but will learn & he’s so gentle & no fuss that it’s kind of superfluous. *See lead training notes
🔹 House Training: Knows to toilet outside if the door is open but needs help learning to ask if it’s closed. Can crate overnight if needed but free roams without destructive behavior.
🔹 Lead Training: Gentle on a collar/harness but gets excited when seeing other dogs. He darts around in his nervousness but is happy to be on short lead by your side to build confidence. Currently whines/barks if barked at but is a quick learner.
🔹 Dog Friendly: Loves cuddling up with other dogs and is super shy if corrected by them.
🔹Cat-friendly: Likes foster carers cat but due to breed type monitored introduction required.
🔹Kids: untested. Recommended to older children due quiet nature of dog.
🔹 Grooming: Requires brushing 2-3 times a week to keep his soft, scruffy coat in check. Needs occasional trimming around the privates to stay clean and dread-free.
🔹 Affection Level: LOVES cuddles—total sweetheart!
