About Ryder
Ryder â Iâm the most fun loving, handsome and curious kelpie boy!
Hi my name is Ryder and I am a young, very loving, energetic, 4 month old Kelpie looking for my forever home. My foster parents think I am kind, considerate and just gorgeous!
Current weight 12 kilos
Ryder is a fun loving, happy Kelpie boy with radar ears and loves a good pat and snuggle. He loves being around other dogs and humans and shows a great curiosity for everything. He wants to be the centre of attention and loves to be involved with you being it gardening / cleaning or playing in the back yard. Ryder is living with 3 resident dogs, a Kelpie girl and 2 Jack Russellâs and is having a ball! Ryder is happy to play with anyone that is interested and is very considerate of the elderly Jack Russell but equally up for lots of games with the 2-year-old Kelpie! Ryder is very affectionate â something we have noticed comparing him to our resident Kelpie girl. You will get a kiss from him, and he is happy to be picked up and cuddled. He is a typical looking Kelpie boy, but due to his loving charms, we think he is extra adorable. Being in a home with 3 other dogs he is quite outgoing and confident and likes to be involved in everything. For a puppy he has an all-round good temperament, attitude and energy of a working dog. He will make a great family member for a family that is adventurous and loves exercise.
Food
Ryder is currently eating three meals a day consisting of premium puppy dry food and either cooked chicken, prime roll or rice. Ryder LOVES his food and when you are preparing his meal he is eagerly waiting at the door or at your feet. Occasionally he pops up next to you to see whatâs taking so long. Ryder is separately fed to the other dogs in the home as he is a super quick eater and keen to eater others food for them! He is happy with snacks throughout the day and responds to food with training.
Sleeping
Ryder is currently sleeping with 3 other his dogs outside under cover on a dog bed (sometimes he just decides not to sleep on a bed). He sleeps through the night and normally goes to bed around 10pm and wakes up around 6 or 7 am. During the day he will sleep under the outdoor table or in his bead. He also has access to a crate which he uses for quite time. He would be easy to crate train and is eager to please.
Toileting/Training/walking
Ryder is continuing to learn about toilet training and has access to the garden at night and both garden and grassed area during the day. He hasnât had any accidents inside as we are timing him to encourage outside toileting.
Ryder will take food gently from your hand and will be easy to train as he his food orientated. It will be important that he goes to puppy school to further his training and socialization.. He has had some training on walking on a lead and also wearing a harness. He will need ongoing use of the lead and would benefit from learning from other dogs on walks. He also has a property with a semi see through fence to get used to seeing new things like cars driving past and people/dogs out walking.
Exercise/Toys
Ryder loves exploring in the house and outside in the garden. He can be seen with his other Kelpie friend in the garden playing tug or war, chasey and also exploring his surroundings. He enjoys wrestling with his Kelpie friend who is bigger and older and is not plays well. You will normally find him outside in the garden playing with his toys and other friends. During hot weather he has access to a small shell pool and will happily be placed in it and wet down in the water.
Children
Ryder is currently living in a home with 3 adults and 1 older teenager, which he adores. Ryder has also been around other people and is very friendly, however he has puppy teeth and is still learning not to jump. A home with older children would be better suited.
Dogs/Cats
Ryder has not been tested with cats.
Ryder was living with a sibling before rescue. He is now currently living with 2 Jack Russellâs (15 and 9 years ) and a female Kelpie (2 years). Ryder great with other dogs and will continue to benefit with more socialization and training. Ryder would love to find a home with a sister who is a medium/large size female dog. He is very considerate and would thrive with another dog.
Travel
Ryder is not fussed by the car. He will try to cuddle up with a human on each car trip. Continued travel and training will help him settle as he gets older.
Bath
Ryder has had a few baths and is not too fond of be held and washed. He is given treats during the bath to learn it is ok to have a wash and relax during this time.
