Meet Axel, the lovable Golden Retriever and Irish Setter mix who's as big and fluffy as a teddy bear! Despite his imposing size, Axel seems to think he's a tiny Pomeranian, always eager to snuggle up, offering enormous love and affection to his human companions. He's a charming mix of adventure and caution, having recently come out of his shell with leaps and bounds. With his new-found confidence, Axel seeks reassurance from the right family to help him continue exploring the world around him.

Axel's ideal environment is one where he can be close to humans, as he adores their company and gives the best snuggles. He's shown great progress in overcoming his initial fears, thanks to the nurturing environment provided by his foster family. He remains a bit wary of loud and unexpected noises, such as cars, motorbikes, and even the sudden sway of trees. With encouragement and a little patience, he bravely pushes past these fears, hinting at his potential for growth in a loving home.

This delightful pup is intelligent and shows promising signs of obedience. He knows commands like "sit" and "down" and is very gentle, showing no food aggression. While he experiences some separation anxiety, it can easily be managed with basic training, and his foster family is happy to give guidance.

Axel is still getting used to car rides but can be gently lifted in and out if needed. He isn't a barker but becomes cautiously curious if someone new arrives, demonstrating a protective yet non-aggressive nature. Though his walks have so far been short ventures around the garden, Axel seems geared up for more adventures as he becomes accustomed to the sights and sounds of the world, including potential swims—a delightful prospect for his future family!

Having fostered 13 dogs, Axel's foster caregiver says Axel holds a special place in their heart. His journey—from shaking in fear to wagging his tail with delight—has been immensely rewarding.
