About Abuelita - 2 Year Old Domestic Shorthair
Abuelita came into care barefoot and pregnant (yes, we know cats don’t wear shoes, but you get the point). She arrived with her daughter Sally, who, funnily enough, was also barefoot and pregnant. Sally had her two babies first, which inspired a visitor to suggest the perfect name for this regal mama—Abuelita, meaning “little grandma” in Spanish.
A few weeks after Sally’s little ones arrived, it was Abuelita’s turn to give birth. But before that, three little orphans had already joined the mix. At first, it was Sally who took them in and nursed them, but once Abuelita had her own kittens, the two mums became an unstoppable duo—co-parenting, feeding whichever baby needed milk, and proving that it truly takes a village.
Now that her mothering days are over, Abuelita has fully embraced her new role as supervisor of all things human. She has absolutely nailed the resting B*tch face, and if you ever feel like someone’s watching you, you’re probably right—her piercing stare is 50% creepy and 100% hilarious. You’ll be minding your own business, only to look up and—bam! Those 👀 are locked onto you, silently judging your every move.
But don’t let her intense gaze fool you—Abuelita has a softer side, too. She is always up for affection and will purr as payment. Scratch her head, and you’ll be rewarded with the sweetest little motor. And if you’re working? Well, she will be helping. That keyboard? Now hers. Those emails? Expect a few extra letters added in. Spreadsheets? Abuelita approves (or disapproves, depending on her mood).
Abuelita may have had a tough start to life, but she’s ready to retire into a home where she can be adored for the queen she truly is. If you’re looking for a cat who’s independent yet affectionate on her terms, and one who will silently judge you while lovingly helping with your work, Abuelita might just be your perfect match.
Abuelita is in foster care in Birmingham Gardens, NSW. Her adoption fee is $150, and she is vaccinated, desexed, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
