About Gretel
Gretel is an eleven month old Black German Shepherd that we rescued from a local Shelter. Gretel is the sister of Hanzel who is also listed for adoption.
Gretel has received some training with Bear the Dog Behaviourist to walk on a loose lead and is now in foster care and continuing her training and is currently socialising with other dogs. She has been tested with her foster carers two little fluffy dogs and is very respectful around them.
We always recommend to continue training when you take your dog home. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long and is a great way for you to bond with your new dog. You will receive a short training session when meeting Gretel.
Gretel is crate trained and looking for a loving home where she family will continue to use the training methods she has been taught.
Gretel has been socialised with other German Shepherds and enjoys swimming in the large dog pool.
Gretel would do best with a family or individual who is experienced with the German Shepherds or large breed dogs and who can provide calmness, patience and understanding as she fully settles into her new life. This will allow her to settle comfortably and securely into a loving home environment.
It's worth noting that Gretel hasn’t been tested around cats or smaller pets, so any introductions should be approached with care and supervision.
Gretel will be available for adoption in NSW, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making her a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet her. Should she, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing her back to Willow Tree or helping us rehome her from your home.

We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
