About Newt
Newt is a ball of nervous energy when he first meets his family.
He needs a loving home with a family who will be patient with him and allow him to work out his new family and household in his own way.
He is extremely loving and affectionate and also very playful.
Unsure on his background, but he came to me very nervous and unsure of himself and other dogs and humans. We let him pace and do his thing until he eventually came over to us all and wanted a pat.
He did not know how to play with other dogs, but our puppy soon taught him how to play.
He is also improving every week on his socializing since exposing him to more dogs at day care organized by Peggy’s Promise.
He has done well recently with being exposed to lots of different aged kids.
We have lots of different families coming to visit to try and make him more comfortable with change.
Can sit on command, walk well on a lead but wants to learn more with his new forever home.
I think he is ready to find his new family and home where he can learn more and be loved unconditionally.
Would suit a family that’s active or has kids to keep him playing or a household with another pet to play with.
Other pet must be Alpha and teach Newt when it's time to calm like my dog does. Newt loves to play with his favourite chew toy and will play fetch and bring a ball back to you.
Enjoys tug of war with either his human or doggy friend.
Enjoys beach walks, always looking over his shoulder to make sure his human buddy is there with him.
Fine to bath/shower/trim nails.
Can successfully use a doggy door now.
Toilet trained.
Inside outside access if your home otherwise fine to be outside with his fur buddy once he gets familiar with his forever home.
Currently learning to sit and wait for command to each.
Due to his joyful energy we feed him 2 x a day so he can maintain his energy and not lose weight.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Adoption details
- You contact us to obtain an adoption application and discuss the animal of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability. We will also ask for rental agreements or rates and photos of your home. Please also include photos of your fencing .
- A meet and greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and current dogs are arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a yard check, to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - we understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
- Payment of the adoption fee is made in one full payment. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records. Please note we do have contracts in place that must be signed.
- Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted to council and the adoption is officially finalised.
- For interstate adoptions- The adoptor must have a meet and greet with the animal they are adopting. We will not send an animal over without a meet. All transport costs including flights, will need to be paid in full by the adoptor.
- For cats, all adoptions take place at PETstock Tuggerah unless the profile states otherwise.
