About Galaxy & Apollo
Galaxy and Apollo are a wonderful pair of rats with so much love to give! These big boys are friendly, relaxed, and are sure to become well-loved members of any family with their distinct looks and personalities. Galaxy, the mostly white rat, is the more outgoing of the two. His striking markings and big dark eyes are sure to keep you staring. Apollo, the mostly black rat, is more laidback. His sweet teddy bear face and tiny white head spot are sure to melt your heart.
These two are looking for a home where they'll be pampered with plenty of cozy hammocks and toys to play with. Although you're more likely to catch these boys lounging than bounding about their cage, they are, like all rats, highly intelligent and athletic animals. Puzzles, climbing toys and plenty of space for mischief will keep them active and busy -- and you entertained!
Galaxy and Apollo may be suitable for a home with respectful children. Like most rats, they're not fond of cuddles, but these boys are very easy to handle and would definitely be a lovely choice for those who are new to rats as well as those who are more experienced. Their trust is easily gained and the sky is the limit for the trouble you can get up to with this duo! If you have cat or dog family members, please put thought into how you will keep them safely away from the cage.
If you're looking to bring a pre-bonded groups of rats into your home and think that you can keep them happy and entertained for the rest of their lives (<1.5 years), please send us an enquiry and we'll get back to you as soon as possible and get these lovely boys into their forever home. Galaxy and Apollo may be able to be introduced to an adopter's existing male rats, but in previous trials they have kindly informed us that they were not feeling the romance, so homes without existing rats/multiple cages are preferred.
Galaxy and Apollo will be treated with a parasite preventative prior to adoption. Galaxy has had a previous benign tumour removal but this is not expected to return. Like most rats, these two have had minor bouts of respiratory disease which will likely require treatment again in their lifetime.
Medical notes
Galaxy has had a previous benign tumour removal (considered unlikely to return). Both rats have been treated for respiratory issues before, and may require this again in the future. More information available to interested parties.
Adoption details
All of our animals are seeking indoor only homes. We do not adopt out any animal to live alone (excluding entire male mice). If you do not have one or more compatible animals of the same species, you must adopt a bonded pair or group.
Once you apply to adopt, we'll talk with you about proper care of the animals you're looking to adopt, discuss any concerns you or we might have, and tell you more about our available animals. Using the application form on our website will ensure that you don't leave anything out.
Otherwise, please include as much detail as possible about your situation, other animals, experience with the species you're looking to adopt, and intended housing/diet when you apply. If there's a particular vet clinic you intend to use, please tell us the name (otherwise we can help you locate one that is knowledgable in small animals).
As part of the adoption process we require photos of a complete, suitable set up. We suggest contacting us prior to buying any cages or items for your new family members as many sold for small animals are not appropriate. We've also outlined our housing expectations on our social media, but don't be intimidated! We are here to help, not judge.
At the time of adoption, you'll be asked to pay an adoption fee and sign an adoption form. You'll receive an adoption packet including a detailed care guide for the species you've adopted, an adoption certificate, and any relevant veterinary records (proof of vaccination and sterilisation, microchip details, etc).
