About Bessie
ADOPTION PROFILE
Name: Bessie
DOB: 16/04/2017
Gender: Female
Breed: Exotic Persian
To Adopt: 185
Location: Bonogin, Gold Coast
Snuggle Scope: Bessie LIVES for snuggles!
Cat Scope: Friendly with all cats after correct introduction
Dog Scope: Fine with dogs after the correct introduction
Child Scope: Untested but would be fine with gentle hands
Medical notes:
- Surgery to correct Bilateral Entropion on both eyes
- She had her nose widened so she could breathe easier
- Bessie is suffering from early Periodontal disease. She has had several teeth removed, and at this stage no further teeth need to be removed, however she will need yearly dentals to keep her teeth clean, and at some stage down the track (hopefully years) she will likely need full dental extractions
- Bessie was suffering from Ceruminous Cystamatosis – this is basically lots of small lesions on the inside of her ear which seems to be more commonly encountered in middle aged-older cats, and Persians seems predispositioned to this condition. At this stage the lesions aren’t too big – if they do grow big they can be removed, but they will continue to grow back.
Bessie will need her ears and teeth monitored, as well as her eyes wiped every couple of days
ABOUT
Well, you got through her lengthy medical note and are still reading – congratulations!!
Bessie (AKA Squishy) was abandoned by her “owner” when she was 7 years old (with her 8 year old pregnant mother Audre). She was in terrible condition, and was suffering from multiple medical issues. She has had several surgeries to correct conditions that are common in Persians to help her life her best pain-free life.
Even after all of these surgeries, she still has some ongoing things that need to be monitored – welcome to the world of owning a Persian!
Despite clearly not receiving lots of love in her previous home, Bessie is a tiny little package full of love! If you are sitting down she will be sitting on you. If you are lying down in bed, she will either be on your or lying beside you. She has a purr that as much louder than you expect for such a small cat (3.5kg). She purrs the moment you touch her to let you know how much she loves attention.
Being and older cat, Bessie doesn’t play a lot and isn’t super active – her perfect life is to eat when hungry, then snooze for most of the rest of the day, ideally with some humans if available. She currently lives in a multi cat home and is fine with other cats, and tolerates the small breed puppy as long as she doesn’t jump all over her.
It’s really hard to put into writing how absolutely amazing this sweet lady is, she is just absolutely amazing, and is totally work the extra work required to maintain this breed of cat.
