About Clover
Introducing Clover 🍀
I'm writing this because The Village thinks it's time for me to find my forever home, and they want everyone to know a little bit about me.
It's hard for me to talk about my past, but I'll try my best.
I came to The Village all the way from a rural pound. I don't remember much before that, but I do know I wasn't very happy. I was so scared, so very scared.
When I first arrived, I just wanted to disappear. I'd cower and hide, wishing the world would just go away. The nice people at The Village thought I was an old girl, all worn down, but the vet said I'm only a baby, maybe 18 months to two years old. Can you imagine being this afraid at my age?
But then I met my foster mum Karen and things started to change.
She has been so patient, so gentle. She talks to me in that soft, kind voice, and never rushes me. It's taken a while, but I'm starting to learn to trust. I'm even starting to find my brave, little by little.
There's a lot to unpack from my past, I know. I still get nervous easily, and sometimes accidents happen, but Karen always understands. She just cleans it up and give me an extra cuddle.
I'm a Kelpie, they tell me, and Karen has named me Clover. I really like it and hope it brings me some good luck, because I'm ready for some.
I'm a real snuggle bug I love being close to my foster mum, especially on the couch.
I even like playing now, though I am a little scared of boisterous dogs. I love chasing a ball and bringing it back – it's so exciting!
I also like chewing on hard toys and am a bit of a shoe thief (I love shoes).
I'm really good outside on my own and love to sit on the undercover doggy couch for hours.
I'm fine with the cats and am a gentle girl around them.
I sleep soundly in my crate all night and even go in there during the day when I need some quiet time.
Today, I even jumped on the bed with the other dogs and cats for a “nanna nap”. That's a big step for me.
I'm learning new things all the time. I'm good on walks, and I'm learning to sit when you stop. I'm a pretty good learner, they say.
The Village says I need a special forever home, with someone who is patient and gentle, and who won't rush me. Someone who understands that my journey will be a marathon, not a sprint. Someone who will see past my fears and see the sweetheart I truly am.
I'm desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on all my treatments. My adoption fee is $595, but what you'll get in return is a lifetime of love and gratitude.
Mostly, I just want to love and be loved. I know, deep down, that somewhere out there is the perfect person for me. Someone who will give me a safe, happy home, and help me forget the shadows of my past. Maybe that person is you?
With love and hope,
Clover (In care at Arana Hills – North Brisbane)
