Monte 🐶 3.5yo Jack Russell (On Trial 2/3/25)

Monte, 3 and ½ yo Jack Russell Terrier, is sweet as a Monte Carlo biscuit. He has a heart full of love and a desire to please. Though the big, wide world is still unfamiliar to him, he’s bravely learning how to navigate it—one gentle step at a time.

💙 Loves People – Monte adores human companionship and will happily trot up to say hello and collect some scritches and belly rubs. Ideally, he’d love to have his special person all to himself, but he’s working on sharing.

🐾 Still Learning the Ropes – Monte doesn’t quite understand toys yet and prefers observing rather than playing with other dogs. However, he enjoys running alongside them and exploring his surroundings. He rarely barks.

🛏 Loves a Cozy Bedtime – Monte’s favorite sleeping spot? Right next to his human. He’s a calm, cuddly companion at night and just wants to be close.

🏠 Indoor Dog – No accidents inside! Monte is very careful to do his business outdoors like a true gentleman. He is very much an inside dog and needs to be welcome inside, on your furniture, and to sleep inside. He is good with children but he isn't suitable to a busy household with young children. He is not suitable to live with cats or pocket pets.

🚗 Great Travel Buddy – He rides beautifully in the car and is happiest when his human is in sight, making him the perfect companion for someone who enjoys outings.

🐕 Still Gaining Confidence – Monte is still adjusting to things like walking on a harness and lead. When overwhelmed, he freezes, so he needs someone patient who can gently guide him through new experiences.

🐶 Best as an Only Dog or with a Careful Match – Monte can be selective with other dogs, especially if they come too close to his person. He may do best in a home where he’s the star of the show or with a calm, respectful companion.

Monte was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle because their other dog was picking on him. He is a healthy, young dog full of potential.

Monte would thrive with a retiree or someone who works from home who would like to take him everywhere. He bonds deeply and just wants to be by your side. Monte is in foster care in Cooranbong, NSW (southern Lake Macquarie). His adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked, and microchipped.
